I doubt it would go to 50mb, there is considerably less data than supcom since there are way less units

Yeah okay if that's how the engine works. So it's not really anything to do with it being RTS or P2P, it's just because the engine wasn't designed for it. I was going to suggest something like a pause while a new player joined - it would be fine for lan games etc, and when friends are playing together. It's really annoying having a lan game and someone drops half way through, I really wouldn't mind waiting a minute or two while they reconnected. You could even do thi
If they optimize their maps, and fix pathing issues it probably won't be as bad. In supreme commander a properly optimized map did run better than other maps.
Yeah I mean as game in progress, why can't you just connect to the existing people, then update the new player with the necessary data which is what you have to do for everyone in the game anyway. To keep the games in sync you have to be sending that data to everyone anyway... it's not like there would be much extra to send that isn't being sent already.
Out of interest, with these new connection methods you are implementing - does that mean it is now technically possible for you to add the ability for players to join an existing game?
2 v 3 ai or people? just add a nightmare AI to make it 3v3, it might help a bit, though the AI is pretty dumb and will probably give away some gold. I think the ice build does best when teaming up with someone... if you don't do that then there is probably not much point in choosing frost over fire.
Even if you run everything at minimum settings, and you meet the minimum requirements, you will probably end up with negative sim speed in some games. Hopefully the beta sound changes help the sim speed a bit.
Actually it's not, if you are new to a game you probably don't really understand the consequences of dying, which are much greater than having to wait to respawn. Not dying is a huge strategy in this game.
So there is a beta update on impulse now, is it safe to update? If it finds the update does it mean I can actually update or does it mean the update will be ready in another 2 hours?
That is pretty amusing - it's not that hard to tell if youlet your teammates know anyway, normaly he drops 750 pots while the real ones are 3000, and late in the game DG's drop 5000 health + mana pots so it is easy to tell
I've been playing around with TB on ice, one of the big issues with this build is not so much mana, but the massive cooldowns on your own spells - for this reason i keep leaning towards heart of life, because you are often waiting for your cooldowns anyway. There are some -% cooldown items as well that might be worth looking into.
God I wish someone would make a decent list and keep it updated with the issues instead of the hundreds of posts like this with repeatead and incomplete bugs. I'm almost tempted to do it myself.
Here I thought you were actually going to post some useful tip, and not some unrealistic expectation :) Best Tip for New Players: - Try not to die at all costs.
they are the dirtiest things you can come up with?
Once stardock puts up an official known issues & bugs threads we won't need the constant flow of posts like this... until then...
TBH, I'll probably continue using Game Ranger when the update hits, just because the friends list feature is handy. Would be great for setting up clan practices and the like. But if the probs are fixed by then.....well, there will be much rejoicing. And chances are I will buy a 2nd copy using the coupon they've mentioned, just to give it to someone to come play me.
Demigod actually has a friends lis
I'm FRUSTRATED with the movement bugs and interface responsiveness issues
I got the impression that he has purchased it already, and just wants to get the pirated version so that he can play on gameranger since there are not many legit games on there.
It's almost like it is waiting for people to timeout, but that never happens once they leave. Might be worth mentioning that when this happens you can normally see the connection screen behind the scoreboard (the same connection screen that pops up during a game if someone is timing out)
This happens every time for us, confirmed with all 5 people I play with, regardless of operating system etc. Once everyone forced it to close apart from the last person, the last person got control of his UI again.
How good does coffee taste when you have been up for 24 hours though! The beta still has some bugs, but it's looking like you should solve the multiplayer this time round which is great!
It's a shame there is no way to share money between team members, would allow for more strategies Or is there?
Hmm this isn't really an easter egg is it? This thread is misleading, I am going to go and cry now.
If you would like to add a beta bug to your list 7. [BETA BUG] When finishing a custom online game, you can not leave the match result screen. It seems like the interface has locked up but it actually hasn't, because if you are in windowed mode and press close, it asks if you want to exit to windows. I have confirmed this has happened with at least 4 different people, all using Windows XP and maybe one on Vista. So far it has happened every single time
Did you reboot your PC? After I patched impulse actually asked me to reboot for some unknown reason, I tried to play without rebooting and it wouldn't connect properly and was crashing. Seemed to be okay after rebooting - I really don't know what they did that would require a reboot though.
