I think it would also be appropriate to modify the rating system a little with this change as well. Something like.... 0: Visitors count for nothing 1: Registered users cannot rate 2: People who are not active cannot rate but their download count helps improve rating 3: Users can rate for the products they have purchased 4: OD Subscribers can rate everything 5: WinCust subscribers can rate anything AND submit text r

What a horribly short sighted article. Who cares about RSS integration? LOL Why should an OS include a web browser. RSS-type information is the new web. The exact kind of thing that Stardock creates products to do....show information in a creative way without going to a browser and manually typing a web address.

It's not an OS review, it's a complaint that a product made several years ago doesnt have drivers for 2 specific pieces of hardward. I also see no mention of installing the lastest "build" of Windows XP (SP2) as I'm sure he has done that for his linux installations. How sad is it that some people actually think that article has merit. I almost can't believe how much the "free software" people have become so deluded as to even ac

Nope, not normal here. Here in New Jersey, USA we're in winter time. We have gone through several cycles of VERY cold weather and then un-usually warm weather. For example one sunday it will be 0 degrees F, and the following sunday in the 50's.

I'm willing to bet a lot of the children came from the fact that all your articles get posted on WinCustomize now. That's not exactly a haven for intelligent comments or quality writers.

you need to get with the times man! You: You know what? Kids: What? You: Chicken Butt (kids will laugh here and you can continue if you want) You: Do you know why? Kids: Why? You: Chicken Thigh (more laughing)

The future is in combining play types. A game like Battlefield 2 which combines FPS games with 1 person on each teaming being the "general" who views it like an RTS.

By the way...i think Mouse-Gestures are a really poor feature.....even back to when they were used in the game "Black & White". Why are they bad? Cause they assume people use a mouse. Not only do I use a pointing device as little as possible, but when I do I use a trackball. Gestures are pretty much useless to trackball users.

Firefox will never win over any significant market share. Why? Because businesses will never use anything but IE. (and most home users dont even care) Anyone who takes their corporate IT issues seriously will understand somethign about switching your users browser......you don't gain anything. People can go off for hours about how IE is not as secure as other browsers, etc etc etc. But the simple fact is that most organizations ha

I think the frames in the main body area should better match the style of the top buttons. In other words the "Browse Site" container should look more like the "Log Out" button. Would make the site a little more consistant. Still lookin good though. The "Custa-Lizard" looks way better than he did in the past. He used to look corny, but now he's pretty cool. Time to make a new t-shirt that isnt lame <img src="http://images.star

The style, layout and colors are all MUCH nicer. Personally what I'd like to see long-term is the ability for users to customize parts on their own. Ie...and interface to create a per-user style sheet.

- Trillian skins (however it should START with Trillian 3 only) - To clean out all the old problematic DesktopX objects/themes that give the product a bad name. - Better system for sub-categories - Tweaks? Reg hacks that tweak appearance and function of Windows? Wow i JUST came up with this idea. Would be great for Stardock to write a program that can TweakSettings by distributing "tweak files".

As for customization.... I never understood why moving the side-bar from left to right was a blog setting. Customizing the side-bar should be a USER based feature. Let the reader put the side bar where they want, use whatever colors they want, etc.

I cant say I care much. Ever since the failed Winamp3 it never recovered. Media player 10 from Microsoft is actually a good player (FINALLY, i never liked it before). All type of software eventually become a commodity.

They definately can be used Destructively. I'm guessing that WC admins monitor them when they are uploaded, but i think it would be better to expand the "Stardock Certified" system to better proclaim an object to be "safe". I would volunteer to asist in that regard. Some anti-virus programs have script-blocking which will halt any DX object until you approve it. This is a great feature but for someone who doesnt understand code, it's hard to knowledgably "approve" it. ..

From DesktopX 1.0 I've thought that's what should be done. You will never get people to learn how to code if they don't want to already. Definately the way to go, but without leaving in the development tools, you wont get people to make widgets. It would reduce the number of objects in the DX library too. You'd actually need a new library format. Eahc "Object" would need to have a sub-category of skins for it. What's needed is a middle-ground between the coder and the s

Also, can you make it possible to de-couple the articles from here and Joe User? I'm not really sure that I want the skinning community on the whole to real my personal blog (nor would most of them care to). IN general my normal blog posts pollute the look of my site because it's not focused on skinning/customization.
