Couldn't resist checking back (so quickly) for any news of the new Demigods. :P Oh, I was in a panthenon game yesterday - although my ally was quite rude, I didn't think it was polite to just abandon him/her midway and run off to join you guys (tempted as I was to do so). And I couldn't figure out how to get the Xfire chat box on screen and play DG at the same time - so it was difficult for me to reply midway through the game. :P Personally, I think I just need a break from De

Hi all, Just dropping a note that I will be taking an extended break from Demigod (trying out another game now). I might pop back in when the new demigods are in. :)
Thanks for the heads-up :)
Missed you guys yesterday evening. Arrgh. (I was in the middle of a panthenon game by the time you started, I think).
The OP's concern about GPG's test team for DG (or the lack thereof) is valid. It would be great to get some confirmation that GPG does have a test team for DG. P/S I would like to see Frogboy more active on these forums (although, understandably, he probably has his hands full with other SD projects).
Well, we'll see how it goes. One issue I can foresee is that some players don't like to play with what they perceive to be a "slow" ping. I personally just make the best of the situation in any case, but I have been (quite rudely) told to quit Panthenon games because someone didn't like my ping rate.
I guess the main question I have about concede is whether you still get the 40 favor points as participant, if you concede. ADDED : Wow. I would love a 5v5 :) Incidentally, I do think that the AI has improved. I tried a single game on nightmare mode (nightmare AI opponents and nightmare AI allies) - and the AI opponents actually started using flag locks. Quite impressive. :)
I'm curious - has there been much comment from Frogboy since patch 1.1 ? I recall a comment made by him about the favor reset being a one-off, but that's all I am aware of. It would be great if Frogboy could comment a little more about the complaints have raised about patch 1.1.
I tried a couple more games last evening, and fortunately, there were no disconnects. I think the game is starting to reach to point where it should have been on release. :P It's quite playable now. :) By the way, does anyone know of a link to describe in detail how the "option" works ?
I didn't know about this. It would be great if GPG/Stardock could comment on this.
I have to confess that I was quite frustrated after being disconnected. I thought we had a good game going :) I relogged, sent Sy a message to tell him that I got disconnected, and then took a break.
Patch 1.1 seems to be working quite smoothly, from the 2 games I tried yesterday evening -sorry for the disconnect for the second game though :( The in-game chat box seems overly large though.
I managed to download the new patch 1.1 just before going to work - haven't tried it out though. Apparently the favor was reset with the new patch - I have to admit I didn't quite see that one coming. :P ADDED : It's good to see Frogboy's confirmation that the favor reset is a one-off - http://forums.demigodthegame.com/357324
New patch 1.1 in 24 hours' time ... I hope it's tonight :P
Very nice - I didn't know there were blood splatter animations in Demigod. :)
I like the idea of AI demigods that replace dropped players not providing gold/XP. Any opinions on that?
This may depend on how good the improved AI is at the relevant point in time. The difficulty is to ensure that the team with the replaced AI demigod doesn't actually get an unintended advantage over the opposing full team. Perhaps a less drastic measure is to remove gold, but keep XP, for AI demigods that
Frogboy said about this I think :
But on Demigod, I fear the community is evolving in a different direction. I read these forums and I see subjective feature requests being treated as "bugs". For example, a guy just moments ago created a post demanding that GPG "fix" the preist upgrades because when "noobs" buy that upgrade early it can cause the one team to lose. That's not a bug and is a perfect type of post that discourages developers from reading through the fo
Last night's connection was a bit funky for me - and this is the first time I've noticed a slow down (Sim speed) playing Singapore games.
If Pantheon and Skirmish can be made to work reliably, I think we will be in business.
Especially if real-life prizes are awarded :) (not discount coupons :P)
Err....Are you insinuating that I haven't bought Demigod? Because, as a matter of fact, I have. I've bought GalCiv 2 as well, for what that's worth. I wasn't referring to you. I don't think people realize thought that game developers and publishers aren't cut throat. I always see these Steam vs. Impulse threads, for instance, where people don't realize that we play each others games. S
That is a useful list, Voodoo. :) Again, thanks every for the good games yesterday evening.
Just dropping a note of thanks for last night's games. :) It's a bit strange how in both games, one player dropped out (due to being disconnected) - and a "concede" button (expected by the end of June, I think) is a useful thing to have.
poopdick wrote :
No offense guys but this game is looking more and more like a budget title that got pushed out the door a little too early, got off to a bad start and has turned into a salvage mission.
Ouch.
I think the OP has a point. There have been times when things get really crowded and it does take some time to figure out who is where. The situation can be aggravted when there are multiple DGs mixed together in a creep mob of giants (and you need to choose one specific enemy DG to focus fire, grouped with another enemy DG in same vincinty). A random glow for each individual DG (suggested by Shadow _Avenger) and/or a highlight when pressing CTRL (as suggested by Aroddo)
Contrasting these 2 responses from Frogboy makes me a little uneasy :
Q: Where are the two new Demigods? A: We're still working out the details with GPG. They're heavily into Supreme Commander 2 but they are working on more Demigods. We are leaning towards having both Demigods being assassins since they are, statistically, the most popular. One good, one evil
And
Q: What are the next updates beyond v1.1
