I'm interested in real discussions

pings above 150 are more likely to lag the game. period. kthxbai.
Whatever your intentions things like kthxbai and /thread belie your earnestness. Regardless this thread has potential to be decent so I'll stop with the derailing. I said what I wanted to say about your presentation of your opinions, I'm content to discuss the opinions themselves or leave the thread to people who will better than I can.
2) Pings that we can see in the lobby are not the only cause of lag. Sim is also important. Upload limits are important. etc...
I've never intentionally been in a game which started with someone over 300 ping in the lobby and yet I've been in quite a few laggy games, so that's definitely true. However I think sim speed issues are really blown out of proportion. My roomate's computer runs at 1-3 sim speed quite frequently and it's not noticeable (to me anywa
I refuse to repeat myself. Deal with it.
I did, I made fun of you, remember? To be honest I did actually read through that thread and tracked down your posts before my first response here in spite of the fact that you had no avatar at the time which made it a bit tedious (had to use search over and over) and they were spread across several pages. When I saw you say "/thread" and genreally just act dismissive I decided to just make fun of you, as anyone who sa
How about you take a networking class?
So that's your synopsis? Very insightful, I can tell you must have really changed a lot of minds.
Yes. Pings above 70 are more likely to lag the game than pings even lower. ~150 is a decent lower bound for a "safe" threshhold. My logic is presented in this thread .
How about you just write a synopsis or copy/paste it the replies you're most proud of.
I kid you not in one euro game I had about 220 ping and they all complained. I said it's not an FPS and they said "it's not chess either." That portion of the community has been very frustrating.
It's the Europoeans who kick players at the drop of a hat and I doubt this post is going to convince them otherwise. I've been kicked for 180 ping numerous times in EU games.
I know I'm not really arguing the same point as you guys, but here's the thing: A few DGs when doubled up require specific DGs, items, skill levels, and/or actions to counter them. Without pre-game coordination to counter them it takes an unreasonable amount of skill to defeat and hence they are forbidden. The main example in my experience has been dealing with double regs on a 3v3. If I do well they resort to simply hitting me with snipe every single cooldown from a
A minion erebus or oak is going to have to come out of their towers to get a new wave. I imagine if they are completely minion spec (morale) they are extremely killable
No, players die because they fight. Players with no incentive to fight can get away with extremely poor survivability as long as they turn tail at the first sign of trouble.
and at worst they won't be able to defend theirselves without their minions. I haven't been in a game against this tactic, but
Honestly what I would rather see happen instead of granting exp for minions is for all the +minion stats items and talents to be converted into aura type effects with a limited range, something like 30 yards. That way a minion DG wouldn't be at a disadvantage in a real fight but their minions also wouldn't be dropping citadels across the map.
Rook is the most effective counter to horn by a long-shot.
If I were expecting minion swarms I don't think I would choose the one guy who can't even outrun them. Towers aren't good against minions (though "most" is a relative term so you could say that nothing else is either) and hammer slam is awful against spirits if Oak is paying attention. Rook needs rank 3 or 4 hammer to take out nightwalkers with a horn of battle. If rook goes hammers early it means tow
Yes god forbid you should have to THINK for yourself to figure it out eh?
Right on man. While we're at it let's get rid of all those fancy shcmancy cell phones that automatically update their time too. Hell, let's get rid of calculators while we're at it, I'm so sick of people being lazy.
Just as a sidenote since you mentioned flags, has anyone else noticed that mana flags also have the same issue? It won't always happen, but if you contest a mana flag enough times it invariably will. That being said, the valor flag issue doesn't always take effect for me either.
icemand sets towers and creeps to high as regulus with heaven's wrath and says nothing about it in the game title or pre-game chat.
asuming a full ice build with points into fireball for fire and ice your large bursts of damage total up to 3425 damage, and leave your oponent with decreased movement and atack speed
Not true, you can only do that much damage by shattering, which consumes the attack and movement speed debuffs. That being said, the silence is pretty devestating.
Well heals and shields don't scale either. Wouldn't your problem still persist when those started scaling up too? You're not going to solo a sedna who can heal for 2400+ who'se getting 2400+ shield as well. In fact I would say that you would fare worse in that situation than you currently do, even if your RoI did 1200 damage.
Remove Structural Transfer from the game and remove ranks I and II of Hammer slam and you'll see Rook's win rate improve. Whenever I see a rook slamming at level one I know he's going to be awful. Same goes for rooks that go out and take a ton of damage and then expect to be able to heal up with structural transfer. Works great until level 5 when everyone and their mother will interrupt it.
So lets continue the discussion, would spell damage items make this game more fun?
Way too vague. Are we talking 5%, 10%, 20%, 50%, 100%? Spell crits, that kind of thing? My gut reaction is "no, it would not make it more fun." I'm sick of mine spam and getting sniped over and over and fighting Spit+Ooze UBs, so making those spells more effective does not actually sound like a lot of fun to me. Personally I think this guy's issue is that he doesn
A few things that crossed my mind when I read your post: TB does pretty much the same damage as anyone else with autoattack without any enhancements. The ability to increase his autoattack damage by 50% puts him considerably ahead of everyone but UB with Beastial Wrath active when it comes to potential late game autoattack damage. TB is not the only magic damage character. Ooze+Spit UB is heavily magic damage based, for example. If you
That's not a solution at all, thats ignoring the problem, and completely irrelevant to the discussion at hand. I would rather not have demigod be one of "those" games, where we start making up arbitrary illogical rules everyone is expected to follow for no reason.
Well the solution is what we've all been saying, which is a functioning automatch system. Custom games follow house rules, which is fine. Competitive players simply shouldn't have to resort to custom m
Alright wicked, you team up with rechra and sparkminator, I'll group with sumo and char and let's see how it turns out. :)
You really think that alone made minions useless?
Previoulsy minions were literally unable to attack me as rook. They would constantly peel off and attack my towers and reinforcements. I would take negligible damage and now I take considerable damage. The patch brought a lot of minion bulids out of the woodworks and combined with the fact that everything will be complained about regardless of how fair it is it's no surprise that a proportionate amount
I find it funny when people see one strategy they haven't seen before and lose to it they get all higgledly piggedly over it and call it OP. Believe me, Erebus minion builds are nothing new. Minion builds are nothing new.
Don't be ridiculous. Last patch minions behaved like reinforcements. If you told them to attack a target, that target could move behind a tower, reinforcement wave, another DG, or whatever and the minions would switch targets. Let's just h
