Focus fire your towers... I rarely see people select a target for their tower far... double click ONE tower (selects all towers) then right click the demigod you want to kill. This makes towers much more effective (and dishing out 500-600 damage a shot if someone enters hurts even at high levels)
I've never gotten this to work. I just tested it a moment ago and had no luck. Either there's a trick to it or it just doesn't work.
I don't think that's a healthy system. The person in charge should be able to see the true output of his or her customers. It's just that on the internet, even more so than on the phone, people feel the need to heighten themselves by depreciating others. The only real solution is a thick skin.
I disagree. I played WoW since the original beta and while my insights into the developer community are limited, I do think I have a reasonable idea of what the process Blizzard has
Stop egging Frogboy on. If he doesn't enjoy posting here he shouldn't do it. It's not his repsonsibility. I would much, much rather communicate with another GPG/SD representitive who can just have a polite conversation with Frogboy about the pulse of the community than for who appears to be our most important ambassador to GPG to get sick of the game completely. Let him go. He doesn't like it here and while his insight and influence may be irreplacable, hopeful
This, my friends, is why middlemen exist. I wonder how differently Frogboy's perception would be if he'd just had an intern read the boards every day and type up synopses of the most commonly recurring discussions/flames without having to trudge through them himself.
The community isn't crappy. I played WoW for years and you always have all these people who decry the community, the trolls, etc. etc., but it's nonsense. The community is fine, there are players who sat down on WoW and spent hours or days making spreadsheets, optimizing builds, discussing the game and genreally doing what you would hope people would do on a forum. This board is fine, honestly. There's some trolls here, there's some complaining and negativity, but I don't
I don't feel you quoted the rigth part of my post. The point you quoted is tangential to what I think we actually disagree on. My example of a competitive non-premade ladder system is Warcraft 3, not WoW. The reason why I talked about WoW rankings is that many times I've heard people talk about premades as though only pros are interested in them, which I don't believe is true. Frogtboy had gone so far as to say only about 5% of the popular online at any time is prema
I don't really even see why you need clans at all, just teams. Handling clans seems way more complicated than just handling teams, but my most recent experience is from WoW where I equate clans to guilds which can be affiliated with specific teams but still quite seperate. It seems extremely complicated when you have clans of different sizes.
This is what we need: 4 ladders: Skirmish (not premades) Pantheon Custom Team Skirmish (premades) All of the stats would be recorded into four SEPERATE ladders.
I disagree with your list. I think we need these ladders: Premade Skirmish 3v3 Premade Skirmish 4v4 Random 3v3 Random 4v4 Possibly 2v2/5v5 versions if feasible Pantheons
This. It's just so disappointing to realize how to make this good game so much better but there's no response from GPG, and we feel helpless.
Honestly I would be relieved to hear an expansion pack were coming out with all the fixes. An expansion pack that put a b.nt (or gpg.net) service live, added robust matchmaking, seperate ladders for each, meaningful tournaments, more DGs, more maps, modding support, replays, etc. I'm sure most players would hate that, but I wou
You know, I wish they'd do something like WoW arena, where only premade games are ranked, all else are considered skirmish and they don't get ranked. How is the game supposed to be competitve if you are getting randomly matched with other team mates?
http://classic.battle.net/war3/ladder/w3xp-ladders.aspx?Gateway=Northrend You're nuts if you don't think the random team ladders are competitive on that game, but it's only competitive because the ranking system isn
better seperation between hardcore and casual players then I will be concered.
I don't understand this. There should be virtually zero seperation between anyone. The problem right now is the seperation. There's a false dichotomy between premades and casual players, seperation between custom game players and pantheon/skirmish, between skirmish and pantheon, and between light and dark. You have all these lines being drawn which divide a community that isn'
I could start putting "184-9, 148-6, 237-5" etc in game-titles or something though, see if it takes as many hours to fill as games with "Premade" in the title do. Of course the game will just eventually fill up with people who have no idea what the numbers are, just like the games with "Premade" in the title fill up with people who have no idea what one is.
I didn't come here to bag on your record or blame you for the crappy matchmaking system. I posted here because you said thi
I welcome a challenge, find someone with stats that equate to my teams? Oh wait, good luck with that because the entire stat and ladder system is FUBAR, and shows very little. You are also dissproving dano's theory that you can gain a "good idea" from pantheon stats, I am not an amazing or even a very good player, I am average, there are just very few pre-mades and even fewer good pug players to play against. Most people in this gam
So we can agree you do not like a challenge or knowing your opponents will work together? I think what most pugs want : is an easy win.
This is like the dude who brings a knife to a fist fight calling the other guy a wimp for shying away from the challenge. It's clearly the premades who face no challenge, in pug vs. pug the challenge level is appropriate. The reason why you n
So you'd sooner close a lobby than face a challenge? Doesn't have anything to do with pre-mades, it's just you making this into a big problem.
I think he was implying he would leave even if it were his own team which were too strong.
More Yetis - Reason is the same as above. More Yetis means a greater benefit from +minion items.
I think it would make more sense to change current minion items to % improvements or to add new items which do just that.
Hey Frogboy, what's the best route to pester GPG? :)
Usually, I do not play a tower rook myself... I have never really been good with them. For the begining of the game, sure, they're great.... unless you have a Regulus in your lane.
You're not using a staff of renewal if regulus is an issue early game. You should be able to push a regulus out of a lane easily in the early game. I've had many, many games where regulus just attacks my towers for several minutes on end. If you are the same level regulus does
I think you'd have too big a mess when multiple creep lanes converged. Sim speeds would drop and it would be difficult to identify DGs. I would almost rather have the reinforcements run off like lemmings than be rerouted, just to be pragmatic about performance issues. Also do reinforcements respond well to being rerouted? Is there a pathfinding AI in place for them?
My only beef with the item is how cheap it is... Not that it matters when you have 15,000 favor points, but it does seem to be one of the better items and its cost doesn't reflect that, which leads me to question if the designers of it understand how effective it is. I think there's only a handful of items which are comparably useful, those being the horn of battle, cloak of night, staff of renewal, and blade of the serpent. Then there's a few which are still good but more
Think about this for a second: if you took a Fire TB, a thorns QoT, a slam rook, and a... I dunno, pick two other AoE'ers, and then put them up against spit UB's, you could expect the UB's to kill one, maybe two of them, before being utterly destroyed.
The rook would never get a slam off against multiple UBs if they were any good. Spit and run, spit and run, foul grasp when the thing can't be outranged.
You are out of your mind. They already have very high HP which makes them more resistant to other summons as-is, not to mention sedna's regen aura gives them an indirect defense against AoEs. 85% magic resistance on a 2k+ health minion would be outrageous. The strong autoattack characters are strong enough already. I would much rather see Wild Swings be a passive effect at all levels, starting at perhaps 10% or 15% and climbing up to 40% or 60%, with an additional
Soffacet I think that's a false dichotomy. Look at Warcraft 3. You had extremely competitive players who played almost exclusively on the FFA or random team ladders, and you had tons of people who played on the team ladder who were not very good. A good team ladder should be a pyramid, not a big blob of pros, and I think that if there were a system which made premades practical we would see that pyramid develop. Seriously let's look at what it means to be a premade
If it's a temp ban then it's fine and I don't feel bad for shadow. I think people need to realize Frogboy doesn't take the thick-skinned approach to these boards that say ghostcrawler does on the wow boards. He doesn't like when people use a hostile tone and you need take it down a notch when speaking to him. If it's perma it's way overboard and I think that kind of draconic punishment is bad for the discussions and atmosphere here. Some players get excited because they ge
