Thanks! The conquest of the galaxy continues. BTW, I had earlier come across some old posts that people were joining the Kzinti Empire to get the first place medal. Well, maybe some people do, and that would be quite shallow indeed. But I have to say that the support I am getting for such an old game from the experienced Kzinti is just awesome. You guys rock! Cheers! [e digicons][/e] *Hopes for a secret medal for being chatty*
I always have negative income for a while in the beginning. Can't afford to buy spies early on. As soon as I have positive income, I put money into espionage..
I don't think except perhaps the Torians can have a positive income in the early game, unless one is willing to lose out in the initial colony rush, even at the tough level.

Just finished my first MV game as the Terrans on a small galaxy, challenging difficulty, all abundant, rare extreme planets and tech brokering off. The final score of approx 20000 wasn't too bad, but it did put in perspective the efforts required to get large scores. I don't think I will be doing that. I noticed a few things: - The AIs were pathetic, absolutely pathetic. I am hoping the Tough one will be a LOT better. The Draths were actually building defenders with only

Just finished and posted my first game - man, conquest victories on abundant planets are tedious, even with a small galaxy. I just can't imagine how you guys finish on gigantic galaxies. It must be INSANE. Anyway, the game was quite satisfying and very easy as well. Time to go up to Tough and a bigger galaxy. This game ended up with slightly less than 20000 points, but I am happy with it. http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=player&id=22377 The biggest thing I

I usually try to avoid these kind of things in most games unless I am in difficulty, but I am having no difficulty at all at challenging and tough in TA. And I mean NO difficulty at all - they just don't know how to handle things once they burn out their initial cash. It's actually disappointing that I have only researched Laser V and am ramming my opponents with just 7 ATT ships and they can't defend. The Draths, in fact, don't have even a SINGLE military ship with an ATT rating. It is just

It is an MV game, so I just changed the homestar, with the Thalans absent. Just some weirdness while using CTRL+N multiple times. I haven't been able to reproduce it, which is good. I am playing with abundant stars, planets and habitable planets, so maybe that's the reason why it is so difficult to get the precursor tiles. Anyway, 19 PQ planet makes up for it :)

You do the right thing, Iztok. I am hoping you get the TA soon. It's worth it, IMO. If nothing else, the unique tech trees will give you loads of more options and play time :)

In my current Small galaxy, Normal tech cost, Challenging difficulty game as the Terrans, I have completed the colony rush and am now thinking of invading the juicy planets of the minors. So, I looked up Planetory Invasion tech and saw that it took around 12 turns to complete with a cost of around 1200. After researching Soil Enrichment, I went to select planetory invasion, BUT... The tech will now take 18 bloody turns to complete! Its cost is now shown as around 1800! W

Still getting the "Service Unavilable/Unrecognizable Response" error messages. Luckily I had a start with a 19 PQ home planet saved somewhere, which should be good. The only issue is that it is a small galaxy. Well, something is better than nothing ;)

Wow, nice post - gave me a lot to think about. You must be really good if you can win on suicidal without knowing some of these things. +Karma! As for research and industry bonuses, your second option is the correct one. But you should be aware that the bonus production is NOT free. You have to pay for HALF of it. Also, different types of bonuses are applied differently. Maybe some can give you a link to a post here. I only have a link to the GalCiv2 wiki. You should have a look at it

But if you're playing for fun, then not trying the good path will make you miss one interesting aspect of the game. BR, Iztok
Of course, I completely agree with you. That is also one of the reasons why we (me and my friend when I didn't have the game) usually cho
BTW, I had other questions. When some random event happens & you get 3 options, good, bad & something in between, do those choices tend to impact how your population or other races view you and act toward you any more than what is already stated?
It will simply move your alignment more to the side of the type of your choice - if you choose the evil option, it will move the ethics slider (I think you use

I am firmly of the view that - for whatever reason - in these kind of games, it's the sandbox mode that is the most fun to play. Campaigns and scenarios are generally not that good.I have never been able to enjoy more than a few scenarios of the campaign. Same goes for Civ where I rarely find a scenario to be enjoyable.
