For me the core of Star Control was the exploration and dealing with weird aliens and so on. The Combat was the weakest element that felt counter to the whole thing to me. You have this ragtag fleet of various races ships... and then you duel them one at a time? Just seems so out of place to me. I never liked the 1v1 melee battles. I'd much rather be able to control all my ships at once. :EDIT: That doesn't mean I necessarily

The thing no one seems to think about, is in the terms of our planets age, we've only just left an Ice Age. We have very little idea of what sort of cycles resulted in the ice age or what a real average of climate variation for this planet is. There is a bloody good chance that our planet is still warming from it's recent (in terms of the planet, not our life spans) deep freeze.

I haven't seen anything to make me worried about Star Citizen. If anything I am consistently blown away by the progress they have made so far. Something people seem to forget, is that Chris Roberts is not Tim Schafer. Chris Roberts knows how to deliver and as of yet has never let people down. Contrary to the publisher model, all the money these guys make goes right back into development. There is no one stuffing their pockets with excess cash, the money goes towards
