I tried Start10 on Windows 10 1809 LTSC. I noticed very high CPU usage while typing in the search field. Meanwhile the Windows built-in start menu was fast without using any noticeable CPU power. The reason MS supposedly shifted to Blink (we don't know yet) is that they want to fill MS Store with PWAs (Progressive Web Apps) and the reference PWA platform is Blink/Chromium/Chrome. I'm sure selling Impulse was the right thing to do. Too bad it ended up on the software graveyard. I think Windows needs a distribution platform for software. Microsoft has the Store, but 80 % of all Windows software may never find its way in the there. It's just too restrictive for old-fashioned desktop software. Steam and few other platforms exist for games. For desktop software I only know of Chocolatey package manager. It's pretty nice, but a hobby project and not 100 % reliable.
