so you do not have a problem with Outlook (the PIM), but rather with Thunderbird and outlook.com. as outlook.com does not support IMAP as far as i know, i would expect problems especially when you are using more than one device and mail clients. the place to find help would be the Thunderbird community, but you would really need to provide more detailed information. in the end of the day the only real solution would be either using the outlook.com web interface or switching to

do you know what visa-on-arrival means? in many countries as a EU-citizen (and probably as US- or Australian citizen as well) you do apply for the visa at the immigration counter at the airport or border on arrival. there are countries that require a visa (like India, the US, Russia or Iran) before entering. and no, handing out information like criminal records to foreign nations without your consent would be illegal here. i think the US makes that consent

wouldn't make sense to ask for a criminal record for permanent immigration then. also i refuse to believe that the visa-on-arrival guy at some airport has access to my homecountry's databases. i'm not that paranoid yet. ;) there might be a rare case scenario that one government might ask for a criminal record from an other, but i still hope that this kind of information isn't handed over so easily. the US is an exception in this case.

we would need to know what it does. either Microsoft left the whole platform in the code and this just removes the hotfix MS once provided due to "security concerns". then it would be legal (in the EU at least), but will void your warranty. or this is coded from scratch. then it would be illegal if it would redistribute content copyrighted by MS (the default skins). i think this is the case. it would also be illegal if it would redistribute third-party gadgets without consent.
