i guess Jafo switches between themes with the LiteStep Control Panel. it is included in recent IndieStep builds. you can get a recent build at Shellfront. http://www.shellfront.org
Snowman: if you want to run HoverDesk as shell and not as desktop replacement, you´ll have to exactly the same things as with LiteStep. if you want a system tray HVD will even become a little more complicated as you will need a third party app for this. check the HVD helpfile for more info.
i tend to look what a program does and how it works BEFORE i install it. that helps. maybe that "Wincustomizer Browser" should have a built in IQ test, so it doesn´t allow to download LiteStep themes if you fail that test.

yes, you can put lnkbox.dll into an lsbox. i did something similar in my Blacksteel theme. you can find it at Deskmod. what are toggleable links?

i hope you are not referring to LiteStep. harder to use for point and click people for sure, but vastly inferior in features ... naah, rather superior
first of all: LiteStep is a shell replacent. it is meant to run instead of explorer.exe and not on top of it. that´s a totally different approach than the Stardock software you mentioned. and yes, there will be trouble if you got DesktopX and/or ObjectBar installed. those two apps use the nasty trayserver.exe that interferes with the system tray and writes some strange settings into your registry. sorry i can´t explain more about this trayserver.exe thing. i tried ObjectBar and DesktopX a long t
it´s up again. there might be different reasons for downtime than bandwith issues as well

actually i don´t care about supporting Win98. although WindowBlinds made big progress on resource use recently, Illumination (not under development since three years) is still much faster. it doesn´t skin anything else than the window borders, so it is not really fair to compare the two programs, but it is the better solution for me. and yes, ChiChiGirl is right, there are incompatible WB skins that show ugly black borders in Win98 (on buttons). most prominent example is MetalX.
