^ Cool story! After 2 weeks of my arrival to US in year 2000 I've met Bill Gates face to face and took his autograph. Still have it. You're right! Civ 5 opinion changed over time with all the expansions and patches as the following article shows. But it wasn't the same when Civ 5 came out. http://www.pcgamer.com/ranking-the-best-and-worst-of-the-civilization-serie
By perfect, you mean all hype and no substance? Looks like a bunch of stock footage chained together.
What the hell do you think announcement trailers are for?.. Just ignore the even-numbered Civ games and

Glad to hear you recognized this issue with SC2. In my last SC2 playthrough all I did was exploring all the systems and gathering only Orange and Purple minerals that give 8 and 25 RU respectively (2 most expensive ones) ignoring hazardous planets completely and after I've gotten enough to fully upgrad

I think constellations are a must and the known constellations configuration should not change when randomizing the galaxy. Their location though can change. Randomly generated constellations can be any form anywhere. I'm not against randomly generated names for constellations and stars, though. But they also should be proper. Ex.: constellation: Klyrrix, Glodea; stars: Lingolia, Raetz, etc. Or it can be flower, animal, astronomers and explorers names. I don't care as long as

^ But those aren't valid replacements. Teaser trailers are usually up to 1 minute long. 1/4 of which are just company logos etc. They almost never show the gameplay. They are there to make a talking point, fire up a discussion and create an intrigue for the game. I don't get why people are asking for gameplay and finished game scenes when they weren't even revealed to us, meaning they aren't ready to be shown. Maybe SD needs to be a little clearer on wha

^ All of those aren't teaser trailers. This is what teaser trailer is like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xtJ0rFGqV8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ri-RvQThPk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PxVuf92EMs <a h

"How do we make a teaser trailer that captures the spirit of Star Control, but doesn't look too retro?" So, you want the trailer to look mostly retro to cater to old school... That's totally fine by me, but unfortunately there's a massive flood of "retro" looking new games out there. We don't really want SC to get lost and drown in it, do we? I suggest to keep not more than a third of a time of the trailer in retro/2D and in the rest use the late
... I would think the more it shortens the trip the bigger the map can be without players being overwhelmed.
Doesn't it defeat the purpose of a big map? If I can get from one corner of the galaxy to another in a matter of seconds, why bother making a big galaxy?..

We have DLCs and expansions coming + tools to create our own stories. Why not have the design space in place already?... It's not like you need to fill it with myriad of meaningful things right off the bat. You don't need to go out there and do stuff with it just like you don't need to visit Antarctica IRL. It's just there and I don't see anyone complaining about its existence. SD expressed the desire to make SC last a long long while. Who knows what may come up later

^ I completely agree. Story related stuff should be "composed" by artists. The rest could be generated, 'cause I wanna see things that nobody else seen. Obviously the generation algorithms should be sophisticated enough to not make everything look like everything else. Hyperspace and quasispace is all cool, but I urge developers to move away from "sandbox" type of a map where there's "physical" borders you can't go beyond... I mean it's 2016... Doesn&#39

Here's my take on the map size: *The stars only represents the in-game density on a galaxy map and not the quantity. **The map is round, border-less. Main points: 1. A few thousands of stars is more than enough. Their locations are randomly generated, but tied into fixed configuration constellations (apart from singular stars that don't belong to any). I'd even placed Sol randomly (but
