^ I feel exactly the same way. I'd like procedural generation for planets, stars and all "organic" objects like trees, rocks etc. But I feel like all ships and upgrades need to be designed and they need to be aplenty. Like so many of them that you literally have troubles deciding whether you wanna go with a Gatling Laser or Gravitonic Pulverizer (whatever it means XD) over a massive Cold Fusion Battery of Infinite Charge (which is slow'ish to recharge, b
Hunam_
StoryCutscenerough vid is perfect for a teaser trailer. Obviously in its finished version.
^ You do know its name is Star Control: Origins, right?
Btw, thanks for stopping by the stream Hunam_!
Hey, you're welcome. I notice the familiar name and when I went to find your stream I remembered that I saw you on one of the show with you and Jeff Leach who I know from one of the biggest Hearthstone streamer - Reynad. ;)
I'm advocating for one big map. So, no switching to new areas. Your ship is just not capable of reaching them without a certain tech that's would be introduced in dlc. Creatures "A" would be only be in the main campaign area. The dlc area(s) will still have those creatures (maybe in lesser amounts) + dlc "B" creatures to keep old players interested in exploring. The next dlc will have A, B and C and so on. If you're restarting your main campaign with dlc added then
Vampire missiles? I'm sold! Two wishes though: I'd like to have more than 2 hull rings to slap my components on. (more crew and fuel to travel farther in the future DLCs?) I'd also like to have unique components that aren't just a better Recharger or a bigger Crew Quarters. Something like Cloning Labs where you can "recharge" your crew XD or Solar Scoop which let's you scoop fuel when you're close to sun. A Charge Transformer which allows
^ Well, why won't you spend 30 minutes and give us what you think is more sophisticated and better fitting track than what we've got in the teaser? ;) As I said earlier, I like your remastered Hyperspace track better than SCO new one.
^ I don't see how high pitched voices fit FAT ugly sLOW Tywom at all. Bryce P. is waaaaaay too high, way too upbeat, way too cartoony.
How to add more new creatures without screwing up existing ones? I think you've answered it yourself in the first sentence of the paragraph: UNIVERSE IS ... BIG. Step one: Make the galactic map BIG. Like really BIG. Maybe not No Man's Sky big, but pretty big. Step two: Add new creatures to the outside of main campaign realm. Make Magellan unable to travel there by fuel/distance limitation. Step three: DLCs will upgrade Magellan to be able
Kyle H is my personal favorite. He'd be perfect if he didn't sound a bit too old. Definitely not Bryce P. Second best is Chris S.
It is VERY dark in my estimation. And I love it! Drenkend and Xraki are baddies, aren't they? Superb tracks! Tywom are just positive space fuzz balls. I guess I'll take it. Ok, come here you slimey little bugger. :D Super Melee track is ok. Not sure what pre-battle tracks are and when they are supposed to play, but I do like the sound of both of them. Is is safe to assume we'll have a planetary super melee?
I meant to post it earlier, but got sidetracked. Get a dedicated person to reach out to youtubers and twitch streamers like Swiftor, who posted earlier. You don't need PewDiePies and Markipliers of youtube to successfully market the game. Small to average will do. There's CobraTV (30K subs) from youtube who is marketing No Man's Sky currently (FOR FREE) and occasionally other space games (mostly of indie and small dev companies). I bet he'd be i
Seriously!? Who composed that soundtrack? Dem goosebumps everywhere in my house!!! It has such a strong 8-bit gaming feel!! Nostalgia kicked in like a muthatrucka. Please, make it "darker" and I wouldn't wish for a better teaser trailer!! I especially like that titu-tutu-tutu titu-tutu-tutu that creates the sense of alertness from the get go.
Let's hope they'll reveal more in this month's update. @Vaelzad @Frogboy
Quoting GnarlyFurtardo, reply 15 I don't think annotation and marking visited planets are mutually exclusive... the use case I'm thinking of is if you found a planet with great resources but didn't yet have the technology to harvest/survive on the surface, so you
I'm gonna revive this, 'cause nothing else is happening here. I love this idea! Especially if "getting" the captains is organically tied in the story (not entirely necessary though). What if some captains are restricted to certain types of ships? What if some captains add a "special ability" to their ship that otherwise doesn't exist in any form or shape? Like down the scope sniping?... :P Sounds good to me!
I'll be back.
Discounted version email was sent out about a month after original invite. I'm too lazy to find the email for the exact date. XD I don't know how you guys read/check your emails, but it should be there..... ;) P.S. I'm on gmail.
To give you an idea, out of all the founders around 5% have contributed with posts to the forum discussion.
Define "contributed". ;)
Rube is a lie.
^ The idea of an FPS sniper ship was thrown out there. :D https://forums.starcontrol.com/475821/page/1/#3624507
^ It was fine and fun the first dozen of times. Then it's a chore. But again, in Elite you spent 99% of your time dog fighting and traveling to stars to refuel (that's at least what I did). So, maybe, it wasn't a biggie... SCO could go the same way (landing auto-pilot) which would suck, 'cause there's not really a gameplay enhancement. In SC though, I'd wanna land on nearly every planet. Imagine going through TEN 15 seconds landings like that in only 1 system!!
There's not much meat for discussion posted. I like the critters and the music is awesome. I still wish hyperspace theme was a bit better, though
I've not yet played the new Elite but I played the original on the Commodore 64. I distinctly remember getting frustrated as I tried to rotate my ship to keep it aligned with the spinning space station to dock. But then low and behold after earning somewhere around 10,000 credits I was able to afford the docking computer. After that all I had to do was get close enough to turn it on and in I went. It was actually kind of humorous after t
