I have a friend who has had several books published and even had one co-authored with Arthur C. Clark. He said if he were to do it "today" he didn't think he would have made it in because of how difficult it is to get publisher to look at your work.

I got a nice answer to the above and thought I'd share what was given: Short answer, no. Long answer, you can fake raids. You can use the random event system to apply spawn buffs owned by a MadVasari type player, and trigger these from your pirates to "send raids" that will be hostile even to TAR players. See SOA2 for implementing third party spawn

I have only been able to sweep the forums on and of for quite awhile and I have heard a general "no" to this but wanted to ask one more time: I have(had?) a pirate mod set up before truce with rogues and pirates. Is there any way to make pirate or rogue units to NOT be affected by these things? Either by faction OR by creating a per unit ability on their ships?

Purty. After years of building my own PCs I splurged on a really functional high end case for the first time the last go round and wow, what a difference. Just keep it away from kryptonite.

Love to see the work on it. Don't feel bad at all--Stardock is intentionally generous with their forums for this sort of thing. No matter what the outcome, you'll have some solid experince and learn a lot doing this. It's a good perosnal investment.
Whats next for the universe of Sins? We've seen a great Trilogy from the beginning, and a wonderfully transformed universe with the Rebellion series. But my question is... What comes next? Sure Ironclad will squeeze a few more dollars out of us from expansions and improvements. But where does the story turn from here? The Vasari, the Advent, as well as the TEC are great factions and you can't make the game too much "prettier"... Well

Hi all! First Any significant new modding links relating to Rebellion and DLCs that I should add to the OP here? Input appreciated. Second Is it possible to limit discovering artifacts to a single modded faction? Third</str
I was a big Ender's Game fan as a kid. I wasn't disappointed in the movie, I think Sin's post shares my opinion. Oh and I did see it in Imax.
Sure...you had to rub it in. I saw Gravity on IMax--definitely a must there.

I saw it. It is a very "sped up" version of the book. Peter and Valentine's secondary story is pretty much left out--which is understandable. I will say they were very true to the book and did a good job. I'd have loved if the movie had been an hour longer with more content. The movie is basically the short story that was first published before the book. I don't do spoilers but while the movie ended cleanly it sure looked like a set-up

"Not for average folk" He means "cost conscious", "who like the freedom to modify their software and devices" and "who prefer to extend the life of their investment through incremental hardware and software updates rather than throw an old device away in short time and be forced to buy a new one". Something like that I think.

If you haven't checked his updates do so now. He discussed how he is handling the AI for NPCs and it sounds incerdibley cool. Instead of "spawning" and "triggering" for random player encounters, the NPCs 'exist" and pursue activities like players. The example he gives is he started with a "first law" for all NPCs in a system, "Make money". Then he provided various means for them to do that...trading, piracy, mining. He let's the AI decide what
