What's going to happen is a fragmented internet. Nations and partners will have their own and chose when and how long to shut off access to others. China and some European countries have already considered this and I am sure the Middle East bigwigs are looking at the option now. No nation will let their internet access ability be terminated by another nation...when that happens it will crack. But there is a flip side to this as related to the US the event of a mass

Fortunately, my Cyberdyne Systems Positronic Neural Net is unhackable by current human technology. Skynet has no off switch.
Yet still no...*cough*...karma. It's true, I have no pride.
Did this ever appear anywhere to download? It's really annoying. FEAR MY NECROMONGER SKILLZ! Oops, me found something here... https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/348205/ ...nevermind.
So can I overide the entity file random names with a string in my map file? All these parameters are provided but they seem to have zero effect no matter how you tweak them. Am I missing anything? I don't want a "mod"--just the map--to do it.
Awesome--thanks dude! I drool in your presence (man, I seem to suck up a lot here). FYI--thanks to your help now and in past (and some others such as Goa) I'm about to release my "Imperium" map which is a looong play, massive universe...the kind you save and play in pieces. Based on the 1977 GDW scifi classic boardgame, Imperium. The map is a literal representation of the board game map with choke points and all built in just like the boardgame (which was
They bought them out when they filed for bankruptcy. Bummer...I loved Circuit City. I guess it...shorted :) I have had glitches with NewEgg but they usually are much better at fixing them. Tiger is great--as long as nothing goes wrong. FYI--I went to check my own credit after following my advice here and found an incorrect "$155 delinquency" on it--yikes! So it's contested now and should be fixed. Ya'll should keep an
Wow-- very nice! Why is it I am only now hearing this!? Yeah, it's good not to lose your mind. If you look at the link in my post above, Harpo also gave a very fancy militia template there where you can have random force mixes...also worth noting and saving.
it works!!!...oh man it works!!!
Lol--I can hear the hysterical tears of joy in this (I was there too). Goa, if you come back, do Militia attac
I like Itharus's ideas about removing Phase weapons from Vasari fighters--nice rationale, smooth and no de-balancing mechanics added. Good points on the balance issue too (I think).
Harpo IS the reason I even figured out how to do what I know with templates (and didn't lose my sanity in the process). The force is strong in this one. *steals militia template* So do those group forces stack? Meaning, the first one is 100%, the second 90% etc. and they all add together as and if they spawn? Could you also show one map sample world with that temp
Cool. I posted a non-militia template https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/177125 just in case you needed a clean, working player template sample. Many old samples on the forum are bugged, incorrect or outdated.
Nice job. It would be awesome to actually have the Firefly/Serenity ship models to use there too ; )
Yeah--sorry for the delay. As soon as I can find a working militia I'll post it up for you. It will be easy to go back in and change it later. Have you looked here?: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/339832
Templates can be added at the bottom of the galaxy map in notepad or the like. Here's an example of that (it follows after the "player count" info which I have shown too just so you know where it will be--towards bottom of map file): playerCount 1 player designName "NewPlayer0" inGameName "NewPlayer0" overrideRaceName "" teamIndex -1 startingCredits 120
*bad forum*
The only difference in a mod template will be if you list an item that has a new entity file and name added that Sins doesn't have.
Ahhhh...if you use Galaxy Forge to make your templates it doesn't always format them correctly. Unfortunately, I just lost (literally, five minutes ago) the folder with my old maps in it and I don't have a working militia one at hand. I'm a bit rusty on map creating and don't want to mislead you. Give me a bit and I'll create one if someone doesn't beat me to it. Harpo is a genius at them. It isn't that hard but unfortunately there are game-included worlds with
If you want, I can send you a completed template. I went through the same thing starting out and still scratch my head now and then. Make sure ship/construction names are correct in spelling and syntax.
I'd pay for an expansion. I've dropped $60USD on games that were old a week after you paid them. Sins has been a great bargain. I would love for Sins to be an MMO in a persistent universe...I would never play anything else. I have an Eve Online account and while Eve is full of eye candy and things to do, Sins is so much more fun on a straight play basis. I also think it's easy to forget that any game that has the depth and amount of work in Sins
The game is always fun but the balance thing is why I think they should really expand easy modability so new players could dive right in and tinker. I'm still trying to repair a map after cutting and pasting something and then removing it. Sometimes this thing is annoying in how picky it is. Letting players have a tool to quickly modify entity files and the like, in-place would be great. It will never achieve "perfect balance". From the old days of board games
I've bought from Tiger often but always payed up front. I've never tried their credit approval option. You may be having a case of the credit check came back and someone with the same or similar name is having mixed reports with yours. Sometimes one of the three agencies will list a transaction with a similar but wrong name and it differs from the other two. It may be they just see a flag for an issue like that. You can check here <a href="http
I think the struggle is not to equalize everything so much that every weapon is essentially the same with just a different name. I like the idea of all sides having something distinctive and not directly comparable--if they can balance it. Great posts on the details--the changes are much more comprehensible after reading through this thread.
So basically, your mod and the post-beta in theory might stack quite nicely? Quite impressive the improvements here guys. I personally think your work might actually have had a little to do with the revisit to the memory issue.
I was content just to have a background image able to be inserted--then you could map a 2d system as a graphic, slap it in and lay your planets and stars over it. What's annoying is that is probably easily done but the code is gibberish to me--I have looked at it with a hex editor but that's not my area--nothing is plain text identified as 'background" but obviously something IS in there telling it to be "black". As I just won the lottery, retired and came into a massive i
I'm pretty sure the dev's blog said planet textures had been corrected and I am not seeing the skewed ones I formerly did. Maybe I am wrong.
