There is apparently a bug in TOA that causes a CTD upon attempting to load any scenario. Curiously, it's the only expansion where custom campaigns seem to work, but ordinary scenarios - whether custom or one of those included with the game - do not.
enabling all but Dread Lords
Does this mean all 12 major races? That's impossible in any expansion.

I've noticed some concerns on the main thread about the Drath. If this isn't just in-character concerns about an unknown species, here's a thread with advice on handling them Facing the Threat of the Drath (Yes, I did contribute to it)
Although I agree with Councilor SarcFa's proposal to make development of a universal translator a priority, I must disagree with his reasoning. At the current time I feel that relations with the Drath can develop in several directions. Offering them what is effectively a bribe would be a sign of weakness, particularly over this single incident. Our principle use of the universal translator should be technology exchange, particularly with more minor races lik
What playstyles do suggest to let the enemy take all the resources and planets from under your nose and then wait for the inevitable? Because it doesn't matter how soon that AI starts building up military -- with 5 planets vs 40 it hopelessly outclassed. The only feel about that races I get is the feel that they are damned to be losers for eternity. So sad.
Actually, f rom what I've read on the forums it seems like the AI's flawed behavior actually varies in sever
That proposal is one of my favorites from the UP. Unfortunately the AIs tend to always shoot it down in my games.
And to be stupid AI and suck in every game isn't the part of personality. Just compare with DL where all the races expand so quickly and build military so powerful. That's something that should be present here.
I feel there's a definite difference between bugged/stupid behavior (evil races not colonizing) and AI using differing playstyles (not developing a military until attacked). The former needs to be fixed (obviously), the latter does not. The fact that the AI doesn
On the topic of keeping the discussion from getting out of hand, wanted to announce that I intend to draw up the ballot for the current session before we reach 125 posts (and a new page), so make sure to make any comments/proposals before then.
In the original list, 5 is not a bug, but an actual feature ("tech inflation"). I actually like it a lot, as it helps deal with one of my problems with DA - games finished too fast even on a very large map. The remainder of those points are all valid, but they're also fairly sporadic. For example, for my first few games the Drengin failed to colonize and were always in dead last - the notorious "evil races not colonizing" bug. In one of my current games, they spread like locusts and v
11) Is it possible to increse the frequency of mega events? I'd like to meet more often the the "newborn races" (I-Leage, Vegans, etc). I only read about space monsters but never met one. Do they realy apear in the game? And what about the DreadLords? I read in one of the files about a cult that is trying to unleash them but you can stop them by high enough espoinage. Can it realy happen in a random single player game? Or DL can appear only in custom maps/scenarios?
Let
The High-Resolution mod is very nice.
So tolmekian, you see that small summary from the commander at the end?, i think thats exactly what we need to keep the propositions of the staff clear.
Agreed although it should probably be expanded a little, for instance bolding actual proposals to distinguish them from background information. Speaking of which, I think out-of-character posts explaining your reasons for a proposal should still go in the m
Success! This, incidentally, is my race's setup. The next post will begin my actual AAR.
Another total failure. Delete this post; I hate cluttering the forums. Edit: I am considering going ahead and discontinuing this. I hate reading AARs without screenshots and don't plan on creating one.
Edit: That didn't work. I utterly despise Imageshack and if I have no other option but to use it I'll forgo screenshots completely. Even the link from before isn't working anymore. Anyone who knows how to do this, specifically for Google Docs, please explain, simply as you can possibly make it, how to upload an image to these forums from that site.
Although unable to speak for others, this format is acceptable to me, commissioner.
By the way, how do I upload a screenshot? I'm using Google Docs not Imageshack, if that makes a difference. So far I can't figure out how to do anything but create a link to the image, which doesn't have quite the aesthetic I'm looking for (as in the screenshots for "The Kushana Initiative") This is what I currently have to post: <a href="https://doc-0s-1k-docs.googleusercontent.com/docs/secure/v4qvrqncj424c2q3lb3e9ma3br0mic1r/niea7o859kvqs3bdjnqqfg8akcu9ompd/1287403200000/092
21) Another AI issue: I'm playing Drengin, fighting a war with the Terrans, when they slip a constructor into my territory and build an... economic starbase? Why would it build an economic starbase in the middle of enemy space? There were no trade routes in that area, and the only planets around were mine, so an econ starbase did them no good except as a range extender, and a military or influence starbase could do that, and
All of my ideas have been mentioned already, but a few remarks... pow3rgaming: That is not a small update.
Oh yeah, and the pop-up civs should be competent and moddable. (I-League, Jagged Knife, pop-up minors).
While I've never seen them on the expansions, the I-League is competent, almost more so then the normal minors. It's what actually sets them apart from the pop-ups like Vegans, since despite flavor text they don't actually take their plan
It might be completely random, or be triggered by high influence. I've only ever seen it once, and I wasn't even trying for an influence victory (although I controlled 6 homeworlds by that point).
First post will go up soon. It's just four years in but the galaxy is awash in violence. Things are looking interesting for the Drengin...
The ballot has been assembled, councilors. Due to the large number of proposals created during this session, I have split it into two sections. Each proposal includes a brief summary in italics. The research section will be added later today. If you vote on this first section before I add the research ballot, please go back and edit it into your previous post rather then creating a new one. It should be much simpler that way to add up the votes Production</str
GalCiv 2 has no multiplayer.
This is a known bug. There was an old forum thread that described something similiar with the Altarians, so what it seems like is that whenever anyone ascends it's listed as your race doing it, even when it's the AI. Incidentally if you do something like rename a civilization (change the Terran Alliance to the Terran Federation, for instance) and save that version, there is a possibility that you might run into both variants with random civs. So in a way it is possible to be defe
My apologies, councilors. I've recently fallen ill, but I'll put up the ballot shortly.
1: Go to Interface in the options menu and de-select the box that says "Remove all functional components when upgrading a ship design" (or something like that). That should take care of it. 2: The core designs have a number of weapons and other components that exist only as "jewelry", but don't actually function. While it may look like the core ships are more advanced, they are actually pretty bad against most anything else. Space Militarisation won't really let you build good sh
