Ok, I downloaded the bink player and was able to view the mini-movies outisde the game without problem. So the movies are there and complete. But still when they play in game (first colonization) its just a black screen (the part where the movie should be is black) with stuttering sound. This is with version 5a. I guess if nobody with win98 can see in-game movies this could be considered a major bug ;) Myros

Yes I think history would back this up, dont you think there would be consequences if the US had signed a peace treaty with Japan, then the walked out the door and bombed them again? A treaty should be binding, else what the hell is it? ;) Not that it cant be broken years, months or even minutes later but there should be consequences to doing so. Myros

I actualy conquered a race this way. Right from the start I was super agressive to one neighbor, destoying every ship I saw. Within a short time they contacted me asking for peace ... I demanded 2 of their planetary systems ;) Next turn I attacked again, few turns later same deal - they asked for peace, I agreed in return I took 2 more systems. Pretty soon I had all but one of their planets which I soon invaded and won. Thing is this tactic had no consequences in the relations with the other civ

You probably had an increase in technology that added "life" to your ships and stations. ie say a station has 50hp, you researched a technology that added 25hp to all stations ... your station now appear woynded until they upgrade/repair themselves to the new max. New ones will have the new limit automaticly but old ships/stations require time to upgrade. Myros

Yes, those types of things I would love ... where losing the ruling senate party place might have actual consequences beyond just a change in bonuses. Votes like the united planet ones would be excelent. ie where each party has a number of votes equal to its percentage in the senate. Also I would like it not to be arbitrary all negative bonuses just because your party isnt in power ... if the war party currently controls the senate shouldnt that give the civilization a little bonus to their war

Just something I have noticed is that when opening a trade/negotiate session I can trade early technologies for ones that come later in the same tree. Is this just a 'cheat' given to the AI alowing to to jump prereques or a bug? ie I can trade an AI the starting weapons theory for phasers .. how did it get phasers without having the basic tech first? Having tried this strategy a little today I agree that its just to easy. Mainly I think because the AI places to little value on ships. Obviously these is some already inherent value system in place by which it judges what it will accept for X so perhaps the need is just to scale up ship value to a more balanced level? Myros

Sounds like your saying they should just dumb it down because people wont read a manual? Thank god he doesnt think like you ;) I think a new user in the example you give above would have an EASIER time than you figuring it out, maybe because he hasnt all these preconcieved ideas of what it should do/look like. I played GalCiv for the first time yesterday, without reading any docs etc I had the interface down cold within an hour. There are a lot of options but they are layed out logicaly and
