People posting to comlpain about people posting complaints always fills me with a sense of irony ;p

Just wanted to post a thanks to the OP (and others who have posted their honest feedback and views), saved me paying for another beta game and end up waiting on patches etc Been burned to many times by paying to beta test - let the rabid fanboys do that, they seem to love it anwyay. Will check back in a few weeks and see if anything improves. Cheers
Personaly Id like to see and be happy to pay for .... people. One thing Ive noticed again and again recently is that all the sci-fi/space games released are cold and lifeless for the most part. The thing about all the great books and movies from the genre is the people you come to love and hate. Id love to see more of this added to this great game. ie ship captains, rougue pirates, fleet commanders etc etc etc It wouldnt even have to be like totaly in-depth to add a li
Whiners .... they are almost as bad as people who whine about whiners M
Even with the latest 1.x.10 patch the same old problems continue. I tried offering 3 techs for one I wanted (plus some cash) to an AI. They wouldnt take it ... so that part seems tweeked. BUT 2 turns later the same AI offered the tech for ONE tech of mine, that lame random tech give away is still plaguing the game Whats the point of having the AI weigh tech trades and then ignore it and have them randomly
Ive yet to see a save game go above 10mb and that on gigantic with 9 AI, sounds for sure like you have something very odd going on. M
The problem as been mentioned in many other threads stems in part from the silly offerings from AI offering powerfull techs for any old junk they dont have. And you right they dont recognize the difference between AI and player ...thats part of the problem. Gigantic galaxy with 9 AI (and a bunch of minors). Each turn one or more AI players fire off this random tech give away .... that means the human player has a 1 in 10 chance of being on the recieving end. That a 90% chance an
Some continued glitches: Sometimes if you already have a ship/fleet selected and you go to a planet and launch a ship, give that new ship an order it will still have the other ships selected and you end up giving accidental movement orders to ships you never intended to. When you end a turn with a ship selected after giving eg a sentry order, the game will no longer auto-select and jump to idle ships again until you you manualy press the 'next' button to find them. <br
My system is pretty old, though I do have 1 gig ram and gigantic maps run fine. Of course the turns take longer once the initial expansions are complete and the galaxy is filled but the turns move along fine. Its all relative though ..what do you define as a really long time? M
Ack, didnt want to hear this. Have already had a gigantic galaxy game get ruined by this bug (with the earlier version) was really hoping that that bug was squished as it can be a total game breaker. Myros
This often happens when you have the setting under options to "ignore remaining autopilot moves at end of turn" or wording like that. When your turn comes around it seems to get out of sync allowing you to select ships etc but the turn isnt actualy complete so the turn button is still gone, then it gets stuck gone. I found toggling that option got rid of the problem. Myros
That means your running the original download and not the patched version. Figured this out after running into bugs that were supposed to be fixed in the patch after re-updating to 008 through stardock. And also the changes to the tech screen had vanished too. M
My loss = spending days on a game only to hit a nasty bug like this that ruins it. My gain = wait till they fix some of these issue so I can really play without thinking 'jeez wonder if I'll be able to finish this one.' Judging by the past it shouldnt take them to long to get things ironed out. M
Funny thing is when I download 008 from SDC it actualy rolls back my game to the previous version (ie all changes and fixes from 007 are removed). Just FYI ... check your version when you load the game it should say 1.0D-1 if it just says 1.0D then SDC has rolled it back on you too. M
BTW, have you guys considered, oh, reducing tech rate to very slow and see how that pans out? Of course. thats the only way I play. Doesnt make the slightest difference to the issue being discussed. M
Yup, latest patch. Meant starports on planets yes The purchase button is already greyed out both on the galaxy view and the ship build screens. Ah well, time to hang this game up till it gets another pacth or 2 I think. Such a great game but I'll end up hating it if I play and constantly end up hit with bugs like this that ruin games and force restarts. M
Was wondering if anybody knows a workaround for this problem ... I have 2 starbases that are stuck at 0 turns to go to produce a ship but will never complete them. Ive tried changing the ship, saving and reloading, destroying and remaking the starbase but nothing seems to work. My current game is going to good to give up on but with this bug it pretty pointless to keep going Myros
*sigh* Started another new game - starbases now can be rebuilt fine. But suddenly 2 of my starports are stuck with 0 turns to go to produce a ship but wont finish them Anybody know a work around for this? Ive tried changing the ship being built, reloading the game and yelling at them but nothing worked <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Ew.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmidd
Aye, always a good idea to have some 'system defense' ships around, that bit more space for weapons or defense is to valuable to waste on engines The stock model comes with engines .... they just VERY slow if you dont add the extra/advanced ones and like you say if you plan on keeping them there then thats all thats needed. Good tip. M
Found the problem. I had updated to 007 with the downloaded patch ..ingame version listed as 1D-1 bonus pack I then had noticed that the version listed in stardock was 008 so I downloaded that, the version ingame was set back to 1D bonus pack. I didnt even notice. On checking the other things like tech reqs listed under techs etc that the latest patch adds all of them were gone. So for whatever reason, the SDC 008 patch had actualy rolled back to the old version. Manua
Dam thats probably why starbases are still not buildable after me blowing them up after updating to 008. My version is back to being listed as the old version. Time to re-install I guess. M
There would hardly be fog of war where my ships just blew it up I havent had a chance to check again in my latest games but will post if I see it happening next time. iirc it was the green resource (economy?) that it happened to, I had a military one in the same game it didnt happen with so could be only certain ones ... will test them all when I get a chance. M
Here's the scenario - Gigantic galaxy, 9 AIs all on intelligent. Within the 1st few turns if you meet a minor race talk with them, note they have one or none techs ahead of you. Normaly within a few turns a major race's scout ships will show up. Check the minor race again. They now have magicly gained 6 or 7 techs ahead of you. Play on - once you have 3 or 4 major races talk with them all, note what techs they have (that you dont). In almost all cases they
Pretty much the same. Concentrate on brining in the cash and then have a big/happy population center where I just buy big transports from when Im ready. And have a small troop ship design also and have a few of those pre-made sitting in orbit of lesser planets ready for when needed. There just something wickedly satisfying about selling all your tech to a minor race and using the money to buy troop transports to invade them with <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Win
I agree. Id like to actualy see the movements through my space of people Im at war with. Pretty standard setting for strategy games: 1. Follow all AI moves - toggle 2. Follow enemy moves - toggle Half the time I dont even know Im being invaded till they attack Fleets can be really hard to spot as the little number under the fleet colored by race is the only way to see who it belong
