There is not an entry in the history to know what has changed with the latest version of Fences - that being said, I can speak from experience that Fences still locks down the wallpaper. I have found that if you open the Display Properties dialog and click ok without changing anything - that the desktop is refreshed and the wallpaper is able to break free of Fences temporarily. Someone hooked me up to Wallpaper Cycler from NuonSoft and I am just waiting with baited breath for it to wo

Have you heard of Electric Sheep http://www.electricsheep.org It uses fractal flame coding to render very beautiful screens to your screensaver - and they are not always the same over and over again. The screensaver downloads "flocks" of "sheep" which it then displays in random order and as new "sheep" are born they replace older "sheep" which are sent out to the digital pasture. Give it a go and see if you won't become a pastor of your own f
Hmm - I am running Impulse with only IE 6 installed - and it works fine for me. Am I just imagining things? Is my IE 6 really just IE 7 in disguise? Where is the requirement in Impulse to use IE 7? That said - does anyone know what changes were in the last update of Fences? The lastest from the history is still 3/10/2009. When will Fences play nice with Wallpaper changer apps? Is there already a thread for that?
I have narrowed down the issue. It has to do with the checkbox "On resume, password protect" and certain applications like WinVNC and Trillian. If the checkbox is unchecked then the screen-saver will aways work. If it is checked and both VNC and Trillian are not loaded/running then it will work. If either of them are running and the checkbox is checked, then it will NOT work most of the time. It is also odd that sometimes if I close my VNC then the screen-saver will work, other times
Zubaz - that is quick and dirty, thanks! But now I need to create a border so I can control the object easier. Plus, I want to export it as a Widget and without a border I can't do ANYTHING with it (not even close it). That is seriously quick and dirty. However, I do thank you for getting me on the right path. Sometimes it just takes a simple nudge to start.
That link looks to install MyColors again - I already have MyColors installed. Isn't there a way to just get the WoW theme?
bump bump I have stoped using Virtual Desktops. It was having issues with the new Fences app, and I thought it out and decided that Fences is more useful to me. However, this issue with KLP and my screen-saver is still happening. It is almost random. I never know when my screen-saver will fail to launch. I have to step away from my desk often and when I leave my PC unlocked, co-workers love to mess with it. I love the single-key to lock and stop winamp, but if i
I have tried creating DX objects a long time ago, and I thought I would get crazy and try it again. Is there an easy way to use a web page (DHTML) as a starting point for an object/widget? My needs are huge, I have a simple page that helps me in calculations for an online game (see the link). But instead of having to have my browser open in a different window, I would love to just have a DX Object or Widget on my desktop that would provide the same functionality. My problem is <span s
This issue is also present in the Virtual Desktops application. When you have it try to change the wallpaper of the virtual desktop, it also conflicts with Fences. Just my .02 - since no one ever reads these posts, I'm betting that this issue will continue until someone gets mad enough to contact Stardock Support. (yes mad, not angry - you have to be mad to contact Stardock Support) I mean what are they supposed to say, "Thank you for contacting us. Your question/issue/concern will be
I have been playing with Stardock Virtual Desktops and Fences, and when I enable SVD the fences app seems to freeze up. You don't have the scrollbars to see "hidden" icons. You can't resize any of the fences because there aren't edges visible. And double-clicking doesn't hide/show the icons. Would this be something to submit to the Fences support, or the SVD support?
I just got a wide-screen monitor, and when the bootscreen shows up, I get a warning message saying (make sure you use 1440x900). I tried editing the dimensions of a sample BMP to be 1440x900, but then it didn't show up on the bootscreen list. Is there anyway to make a bootscreen that will work on a wide-screen resolution? Will that need to be a program enhancement - or is it completely not possible?

Is there a reason none of the DesktopX items are blurred the same way the wallpaper, desktop icons, and other windows are blurred? I can move my window around and the titlebar shows the items behind it with the nice blur effect, except for DesktopX items. Just curious.
Um - the only one that shows up for me is WB6 5.91[b].038 - I am using SDC v 2.47.481 build 159 - I even tried uninstalling the previous beta - no dice. Any suggestions?
Mr. Jobs has a word for everyone that bought his iPhone at the original price point - I believe that word is SUCKERS !!! And I think the only thing close to an "Holy Experience" is the fact that this posting has quotes from the Gospel of Matthew, Scientology, the Cult of Steve (he temps us with the Apple), and Donkey Kong. Isn't the whole point of technology to be the "first on the block"? I mean only a fool or a complete geek would buy the latest tech
Shelby GT - thanks for the reboot hint - amazing how much a reboot will solve.
I love Molten - but the fonts suck royally - and the new font adjustments don't make them return to normal - not even selecting another skin will make the fonts look good. I'm talking about the desktop icon title fonts, the menu and menu-bar fonts, and the start menu fonts (the sub menus from the start menu can be changed, the task-bar and title bar fonts can be changed, most others can, but not those I have specified). Has anyone else had this issue? The only way I can "fix" it is to u
bump I just upgraded my Virtual Desktop to version 2.09b(b).009, and now my keyboard shortcut for launching my screen saver doesn't work at all. I even removed the "Stop WinAmp" command. It doesn't matter what I do - even from a fresh reboot before I launch any programs. Is anyone else seeing this behavior? Do I need to bug stardock support by email?
Hey Neil, Build 27 has fixed the "per application feature disabling". Thanks a ton! Who should I contact about the Virtual Desktop glitch with the Quick Launch part of the Task-bar? That is still happening - in fact I have turned off VD controlling my wallpaper, and it happens more frequently now.
My install of WB6 went fine - I am loving the blur effect. I have only noticed two small issues at this point. 1) the per-application feature disabling has been disabled again. My applications that can't handle scroll-bar skinning are noticeably affected. 2) This might have something to do with the Virtual Desktop application - the transparent task-bar shows the background wallpaper from my main window even though I have set the VD to use it's own background as the window's bac
I have been using the WB 6 beta for a week now, and I really love it. The blur effects are fantastic, and really help read the titlebar text. I do have a few little issues that I have found with WB6 beta. I was wondering should I report them, and if so, where? Is there some formal process that I need to go through? Just curious - I want WB6 to be the best WindowBlinds EVAR(sic).
WOO - HOO !!! The latest build of WB has fixed the per application feature disabling and now I can turn off the scroll-bars and the rest skins. All is right with the world! Thanks again .... Neil, I believe ... but I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time). Great work Stardock folks.
This is so cool - thanks again for the great info. Hey, did you know that Desktop X Builder doesn't have a Company Name on the process? Neither does Winamp. Very interesting .... they must be spyware/malware
That is correct Bichur - I am talking about the icon that displays on the Start Panel. I don't see why that has to be a limitation of a PC being part of a domain. I also don't see why Stardock can't allow for that part of the Start Panel to be skinned regardless of whether the PC is on a domain or not. Can't this be "tweeked"? And you are correct, hiro5id, I don't understand the full ramifications of my PC being on a domain.
This is just the weirdest thing. It started about 2 weeks ago, I have a hot-key to stop Winamp and launch my screensaver when I go away from my PC. Winamp stops (so I know that KLP is getting the signal), but my screensaver does not run. I have to select a different Virtual Desktop, and then it will function correctly. Could it be a combination of Virtual Desktop and KLP? Or is it possible that one of my applications might be affecting KLP's ability to launch my screensaver and by
