Well - 1 week later and I got an email response. Hello, Thanks again for reporting this. The lead developer of WindowBlinds has stated that this functionality had somehow become broken and has fixed this. When the next build is released, this feature should be working again as advertised. Thank you, -------------------- Mike / milksama [Stardock] Nice really - to know tha

RomanDA, I really appreciate all the time you have taken to create these tutorials. They have really de-mystified DesktopX for me. I was even able to make Mask and outer child of Button so that the Target follows the Button. It makes me feel smarter to know that I can actually do somethings in DX. Thanks a ton!!!!
Just sent - crosses fingers hoping for a response.
I know that this is a "stupid question" but if the feature exclusions no longer work, why are they still there? Is there some plan to get the feature exclusions back into the code for WindowBlinds? Like I say, I know that it used to work on Win2000. Whatever, I'm sure that since Vista has all the attention now, we'll be lucky to get anything new for XP in the coming months. It is just the way things go. Thanks anyway.
With Win2K - you need to use a combination of WindowBlinds and ObjectBar to get the XP look of taskbar skinning. It isn't perfect, but it is a lot better than the default Win2K offering. (IMHO)
Hey all, I just got a new PC at work running WinXP (the government is always one step behind), but I have a number of apps where skinning the scrollbars is problematic. The "Per Application - Feature Disabling" feature worked just fine on Win2000 (WB4), but there seems to be a problem with WB5 and the "Feature Disabling" feature. Am I just missing something, or is this a known issue? Here is my System Info: Microsoft Windows XP: Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254
Ok, I learned that if the PC is on a domain then your User Icon won't display on the Start Menu. But this is Stardock, the kings of overcoming Microsoft's shortcomings. Is there some program that can add a User Icon for me on my PC even though it is on a Network Domain? I can't understand why being on a domain makes the PC function less than my PC at home. Grrrr - makes me wonder if Microsoft used a group of monkeys to program Win XP pro.
Could it have something to do with the amount of RAM you have? I just got a new PC here at work with 3 GB of RAM, and NONE of the memory meters work now. Everything just reports 2047 MB of ram available. I'm thinking there is some 2GB limitation that is undocumented. This happens with all DesktopX Widgets and Objects, as well as other 3rd party memory meters. The only meter that seems to work is is the Task Manager (what an ugly thing that is). Please let me know if my observat
Although I have some of the basics down thanks to reverse-engineering Martin's scripts. I would really like to figure out how to do a graph. How do you control the images of the bars to get them to be the correct height and position them correctly? I'm a very bar graph kind of guy, and I want to pull info from my web server so I can display it in a bar graph on my Desktop - I think that would be a cool and useful application of DX. But the first step would be to learn how to do the grap
I too am a Win2000 user - and I run OB 1.99e[b].002 (the beta for the OB2.0) It runs really well on Win2000, much more stable than OB 1.65. However it does require a little tweaking to get the old legacy configuration dialog that you would be used to. I would highly recommend Stardock make OB 1.99e available to Win2000 users. Or would there be a problem with doing that. It seems with so much hype about Vista - those of us stuck on older versions of Windows seem to be forgotten. Please s
Ok - call me blind - I just saw the link in the post above mine, and after an install and reboot my systray is back. I should have known that uninstalling the MCP on Win2K was a BAD THING. I was just wanting to see the memory footprint of MCP - thinking I would easily be able to reinstall it from SD Central. Boy was I wrong. Today's lesson boys and girls - never uninstall anything unless you are 100% sure you can reinstall it later. Because you just never know.
I have been using ObjectBar 1.99e for a long time now, and just today I have noticed this behavior too. None of my system tray icons will display when OB is running. I have even tried to run "trayserver.exe" and that didn't help. Can someone see what is up? This is VERY annoying!! I will have to turn off ObjectBar until this can get resolved. Grrrr!!!! OB is my favorite of the Stardock apps. Esp. the virtual desktops. Please hurry! Einstein47
Hey, I just loaded up SkinStudio and my Tutorial is still there. It is the "SkinStudio Online Tutorial - Old". And the DHTML doesn't work in FireFox. Amazing that few things on the internet ever get thrown away. Boy, I did it for WB 2.15 - man, that WAS a long time ago. I do feel pretty old and rusty. And thanks for the suggestion Tycus, I think I should start with something easy to get back on the bandwagon. Everybody talks about doing some
All I can say is, "WOW!" It is interesting that the more things change the more they stay the same. When I first got involved with WindowBlinds back in 1999, I felt that all this free content needed something from me. I wanted to contribute to the community. My lame attempt at skinning showed my lack of graphical talent. However, I was able to understand the way to make a skin, so I decided to write a tutorial. "Those that can't do - teach."
Big Kudos to Bichur - works like a charm.
I just started getting this C++ Buffer Overrun with DesktopX Builder (even though I am only running the standard mode. This is very annoying. I need to re-up my subscription to update DX. I'm scared that this will not be fixed with an update. Any ideas? WinXP Pro SP2. DX v3.19[b]
Since I use an AccessDB on my website - I have found a need to get info from it and to it often - this script might be able to really open up some possibilities - thanks tons. Hey, do you know how to convert numbers to a bar graph? I have been wanting to do that for a long time. I just can't see to figure it out. Just an idea if you are needing a topic for a new tutorial. Cheers.
Jeff - thanks for answering my Q's. As I've said before, OB is the one app that I CANNOT live without. When I an application needs more memory or CPU, I will unload DX and WB and even VD before I turn off OB. And putting some strong warning about running on Win2K is unsupported is acceptable, but please make sure that the installer let's me do it (I hate it when the app "should" run on Win2K but the Stardock Central installer has some XP Only limitatio
All I can say is -- YEAH!!!! I do have 2 questions: 1) Will SkinStudio be able to create ObjectBar skins like it used to? Or are you thinking of some other application for creating skins for ObjectBar? 2) Will OB 2.0 run on Win2K? I would be lost without OB here at work. It has made my life so much better than what Win2K can provide. However, if I will have to wait, would you consider making an OB 2.0 build for Win2K?<b
At work we have 3 servers: This, That, and Other My PC is simply Einstein - It is just an extension of me.
Um - I am an idiot - I must have just messed with too much stuff to begin with. I got IIS working but just "Uninstalling and re-installing" I kept all the defaults and bingo! Sorry to jump to posting in the forums, but I was just at wits end - however, I rarely accept the "uninstall / re-install" as a viable solution. But this time it worked for me. Thanks again for your correct opinion of WinME - I can't believe I stuck with it f
I just upgraded my home system from WinME to WinXPpro - I was able to get PWS working on my old system, so I could do some simple web development. However, now that I have IIS, I am completely at a loss on how to get IIS working. I only want to do local web development with ASP. I will upload the files to my wife's school web site when they are working. But I want to develop them locally. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make it
Finally a scripting tutorial that goes my speed with my understanding - please keep this up. I have some objects that I want to add scripting to, and I think this is right up my ally. Thanks - Einy
Is WB5 only valid for WinXP? I'm stuck on Win2K and would love to upgrade, but if it isn't going to work, then I need to add patience to my Christmas wish list.
