the other alternative is to simply reveal all of the sites.. except with a big question mark or some such instead until you've researched the relevant tech to know what it is and explore it. or lots of generic dungeon types - tower/dungeon/etc... with no specified lvl stated. research past its (hidden) level will allow you to explore/etc. instead of all towers being lvl 4 or what not, you have lvl 1 - lvl 5 towers, etc. ie.. no spawn at all.
alaknebs
don't they only spawn when the ai (or you) research the tech?
if you have win 7, try the "snipping tool"... quite handy for screen shots.
switch most hero special abilities to local instead of global and make them improvable + allow exp gain whilst sitting/working in a city and you'll get a lot more weedy type heroes doing what they should be doing instead of wandering around imbued. that leaves room for improving the more outdoors type to be killing machines. eg embedding a hero gives a squad better morale, better defence, different abilities, etc. obviously need to be a way of switching them out. <
don't have a save for it.. but it appears you can't stack ships. or rather, when you get the 2nd ship, it got stacked into the 1st one automatically, but if you split them, you can't stick them back together again. or is that just me? only noticed it when landing on the west coast of final battle, didn't even notice i had 2 ships in the stack (was wondering where the 2nd one mentioned in the script was!)
the problem is that race and factions get blurred in this game for some reason. you would have thought all those 6 human factions (5 kingdoms + krax) are from 1 human race just different factions.. but it isn't. they are all separate races and factions which doesn't make much sense. this is eminently noticeable when you create your sovereign/faction. i know that the lore page says human race are subdivided into the 6 races, but still... obviously it might make sense if
thought i should point out that it was a campaign started under either 1.08 or 1.09. then loaded under 1.09e049 from the autogenerated save game named end of chapter 1 (or some such).
up to chapter 5 so far (getting near capitar) ...can't build stock pioneer.. but can design unit with pioneer pack and found settlements... so.. is founding settlement supposed to be allowed at that point in the campaign? if so.. why can't one build pioneer? (it even shows up in the design unit screen). if not.. why is pioneer pack allowed?
sticking a farmer in a city should lvl him up.. or admin. or other similar. would be even nicer if there's a choice of making them even better in those fields.
you can have models that made races look different. - eg.. elves / dwarves / lizards, etc. though that's probably a cost issue. you can have equipment models that make factions look different or use different stuff. eg... lacquerred weapons vs ore weapons (a la feist's magician).. heavier weapons vs lighter.. longer vs shorter. that has nothing to do with unit customisation making everything samey.
maybe it's one of the other icons at the top.. can't remember...
don't think they are linked to mini map. I don't use minimap and I get a spam of icons every turn (or at least it did.. haven't played 1.09e yet)
.. only problem with insane map size is what you do with it. nothing but city spam no doubt.
have you tried hitting the y key whilst it's "frozen"? it works in some cases. (obviously you don't know what it is that you are allowing...) or maybe try the gaming mode in za? think that does a default block all/accept all depending on settings. haven't used za for a while now.. but usually it "freezes" everything with its permission popup... especially if it's a full screened program. and that popup appears every time the .exe is changed
come to think of it. heroes don't show their race, do they? (apart from the looks)
um... expanding a bit more when you create faction/sov, you can pick a race.... which just happens to be one of the stock made factions. oddly enough, when you make a faction, your faction appears in the folder /my doc/my games/elemental/races/ with a filename of faction_blah.xml i assume the spellbook (life/death), research are purely determined by the allegiance to kingdom/empire... so basically nothing to do with race per
no one has any idea?
yes... but i think all it does so far is straight clone the talents and descriptions. but probably not the stats... or is that just the display? eg.. there are all those +2 food/+1 tech/+1 arcane stuff.... do offspring get those and have them active? sure.. if both parents are strong, then perhaps nudge the offspring towards that direction with a stronger possibility.. but not clone.
i think offsprings should not inherit the parent's abilities. what are they, clones? - which they are atm, even down to the description! mind you.. they are all royal, so i guess royalty should do something else - for that matter.. your sovereign is royal by definition, isn't it.... (just rename royalty as it is now to something else.. maybe tweak it)
no.. it just wasn't working before.
says it all really. there's no turn page in unit details, so if your sovereign have a lot of boxes ticked (ie.. lots of icons that show up in the unit page), then the stats bit will just have no room to show up. or i guess for that matter, lots of text in description, etc. need a turn page thing i think for that matter, need something to show the base essence, though that might not matter depending on how the new mp is done.
not yet in 1.09... as i haven't played long enough. usually happens in previous versions after playing for a while... maybe it's the memory thing? just save and load and with some luck.. nothing else would go wrong.
that's sort of what i mean. you lose 1 man and so basically get 25% less attack, no? (the unit had 0 def anyway XD) which makes the whole thing a bit illogical. you don't see a guy with 3/4 hp attack with 75% atk, do you?
definitely new game... the custom faction was made from 1.08... but i load the old one and saved it again after fiddling with some color. (same faction name though). deleted all custom sov and made new sov. have 2 savegames.. turn 84 and turn 89 ... it appeared somewhere in between. just don't ask me what i did in between... probably lots of walking and not much else. http://drop.io/kp8twnj
there i was stupid enough to write out gold/tech/magic in full when naming the city XD mind you, i still am more disposed to there being more variety than just the 3 bonus and random units. why not material? metal? etc? or even rare items?
