Cool, glad they're helpful! I know Brad is super busy doing CEO duties like playing golf or hanging out in Davos, Switzerland, dining with the Obamas, or yelling at Derek or Boggiebac - doesn't have time to bother with this AI stuff so I want my arguments to be supported by facts, baby! Just kidding, Brad. [e digicons];)[/e] If anything I'm empathetic to how busy you really must be as CEO and lead AI guy. You need an AI Mini-me or Jedi Paduan!
The reason I haven't explored anything with expandedmounts is because the AI don't even use mounts, so anything added is just more imbalance making the AI appear weaker.
Yeah, the code to use mounts and specifically gear sovereigns, spouses, and champions based on available tech and gildar is either missing or not there by design. Unsure of which at this point but it does seriously damage the fun factor for ridiculous

1.19e strategic analysis here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/406036 Summary of Observations: URGENT PROBLEMS?: None, yay! No dead factions and none of them are sitting there doing nothing. Recommend giving sovereigns and spouses xp per turn or have them explore the world (being careful of course). Cursory pass - spouses or sov's are still not being geared per gildar and tech levels. I

Prior 1.19d analysis here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/405730 Purpose: Analyze strategic AI behavior to help identify issues and hopefully help improve the game. Scope: Basic block and tackle strategic actions such as exploration, expansion, city improvements, etc. Scenario: Large custom map built from "Ovia" - created an island so I can cycle turns, reduced starting positions to 1

I would prefer they play as much like a devious human player as possible but there's always the issue of weighing how much in resources (i.e. Brad's time) the deliverable requires. Agree that the sovs should be out exploring and conquering but it's such a fine edge to walk: do something stupid, die, and poof! This game is unique in

On paper she looked stronger than my stack of sovie & 3 heroes, BUT she had picked up some damage somewhere and only had about 1/4 of her max hit points. Killed her by charging with my sovie and taking one swing. Two of her army immediately faded off the battle screen without me hitting them.&nbs

Hmm. What version # are you playing? I remember in previous versions there were unhirable "Champions" but that was probably pre 1.1. I haven't seen that issue for awhile. If the hero is inside your zone of control (ZOC) then you should be able to mouse over the recruit button and it should say how much gildar it costs to hire them If the hero is outside your ZOC, then you need a unit next to them to speak with them. Do the same thing and mouse

Play as a bard and max Charisma to 15 at startup. When your sov levels, put points into Charisma. You then have a likeable dude who hires champions for cheap AND he/she can quickly raise cities to level 3. I call it my "Slick Willie" Bill Clinton strategy and it works.

IIRC, he moved out of the city while I was trying to figure how to take it against all those defenders. Anyway, I stomped him & his little stack, and it killed his faction even though he had been in his own territory.&nb
The economic benefit of caravans doesnt seem to make a noticible difference.
It does when you focus them on 1 city - those 10, 15, 20% bonuses centered on one city start to stack up. To give you an example, in my current 1.19d ridiculous game my main capital has gildar income of over 1,100 gildar per turn. I'm not even done making that bad boy rocked out (the tile restriction is gone so I'm making a crazy capital).

Which version are you playing? 1.19d Brad put in some AI work to make the sovereigns more careful. See the OP of this thread: https://forums.elementalgame.com/405696 . I can confirm this as I went after Magnar quite early in my 1.19d real game and that dude ran like he was Forrest Gump; "Run, Forrest, Run!". I took over his entire empire but instead of hanging around he ran. Gilden finally mopped him up somewhere on the map as I couldn

I don't think it's mods as I was using a complete vanilla package with no mods. Nabaja is the female hero who has both Assassinate and Dominate (I hold out marriage until I find her as I want my female children to kick ass). Another variable is that I found Nabaja twice which caused some UI issues: see this post here. This is the same game where this issue popped up. https://forums.elementalgame.com/405822 At any ra

Totally agree it does nothing to change the pacing or other opportunities to improve the gameplay. [Edit] Unit gr

Thus, a level 5 city has the population to support at least roughly 62 units of count 12. Assuming these units are evenly distributed into 12 unit size parties, we have enough units for 5 full parties for a total party troop count of 144. If one expanded troops count potential to be 1, 8, 16, and 24, our same level 5 city wou

Will do. I'm kicking myself for not noting the turn in my OP as I usually save each turn while I'm testing the AI. If this occurs again, I'll definitely pass along the prior save, post-battle save, and print screen. [Edit] Oh and thanks for looking into it! I could not agree less. If having land tiles in your Zone of Control doesn't have any significant effect on your empire outside of the few bonus tiles it my encompass, then there is not much reason in attempting to obtain a large Zone of Control.
