Well, we played a game vs a mid-pro team (Dark_Satana, Quincrane, Pupsik), and both Cape QoT and Vial Rook got slaughtered over and over again. We had Vent, and the Rook had tons of mana, but it didn't help much in short skirmishes. The guys were so overly respectful to us, that they picked UB/Ereb/Oak combo vs our experimental Rook/Sed/TB, so it was a more-or-less lost game from the very beginning, but we didn't expect it to turn into a massacre so soon&nbs

Well, you may add as well: brasher_01, doggu, mcloover, akumrise, lols_seawolf, dreamcatcher, al-t, ppapanek, quincrane, nastyblade, k5k*, 5j-fox*, tsk-knockout, Archon*, Pangea_2*. *Interested, but not sure that can make it. Some of these guys have agreed to speak to their acquaintances in game. I can probably draw in more decent folks from gameranger. There is Eltimes that is semi-retired, but otherwise a gameranger hero, etc.

I think if we do have character selection rules, I'm a fan of not being able to reuse characters in a match. Specifically, my team picks 3 dgs. The other team picks 3 dgs. Next game, my team can't use any of those 3 dgs and so on. This adds another layer to the strategy imo and should make for some interesting matchups. Oh, another thing. Restricting DG picks to one-per-match will prevent most teams from playing on a decent competitive level. Take Iz/Darz/Darkliath in this tourney as an example, if you need an extra proof. Iz played only UB, Darz played only QoT.

@Pacov I tried a less than effective cape build as qot in a game today. granted our team combo was something horrible to attempt this (qot/tower rook/da that was unaggressive). The downside of a build like this (using cape) is the level of coordination required. I still think you need a rook that is either primarily hammer slam or tower/slam focused on maxing hammer as a primary. And you need to communicate well with whoever is with you as you'll likely use

This is why I stopped playing QoT. That, and I don't like NEEDING to be on mana side, which in my opinion is essential to playing QoT effectively in a competitive game. I think Cow is right. SW 3 is probably still worth getting. I'm not sure why, but this is one of less expected skills in DG. Probably people just don't see it as frequently as, say, Grasp or Boulder Roll... So no idea as to its insane range and, erm, not-so-insane damage potential. Got a bunch of kills on ranged characters with it (yeah, I know it's technically not a nuke...).

Actually, I think a variation of Blood-Tank QoT (probably somewhat minion-heavier) should be very good in 1v1. Really, I don't think she can be killed 1v1 (Mulch 3 + Shield 4 = 3700 hp), she has a great AoE and, goes without saying, heavy siege damage.
