Boxxi, I'm with Paxx on this one. Why learn Java is you have the opportunity to do Web Development. Java is typically the language used on the back-end in Java based web applications with JSP serving as the scripting language. If you aren't already familiar with HTML, CSS, and Javascript or VBScript I'd suggest you start there. Learning Java won't give you much of a basis for web development, but it is a nice language although steer clear of S

Absolutely!! I can't wait for this weekend! You gotta toss some hot wings into the mix though, it's a Super Bowl necessity! I'm sure there will be much hollering at the TV this Sunday all across the country.. Here's hoping for a close game that stays exciting all the way to the last moments of the game! I REALLY hate it when the superbowl is a total blowout, makes the commercials more interesting than the game and I HATE commercials! Since I'm rather n

I'd be willing to bet it's the code in the DX object. For example, the fish probably thinks that if it's X position is negative then it is off the screen i.e. not visible and that it needs to do something about that, hence the rapid about face to return to screen 1. As far as you problem with menus and dialogs only appearing on monitor 1, I've seen this with my dual-monitor setups and it seems to be related to something similar but I've never really be

'If' this site's OEM stuff isn't supported then the chances are the licences aren't legit I dunno about that Jafo, I think that's one of the murky areas of OEN software. My first copy of XP was OEM and it was unsupported my Micrsoft (not that I'd ever call them), but since OEN software is typically supp

Stardock already sells the component of WB that handles the skinning that companies can buy and build into their applications to add skinning. So, if you want to do something like this you'd have to actually write the application that the company is using. The only other way would be to write an application that in the end would act exactly like WB other than you would only support 1 skin and you probably wouldn't have the tie into the appearances tab

SOrry, excuse the stupidity.. I was at work so probably not all there. Anyway, the link I left is to the Dual-screen wallpaper section at DB. There's dual and triple screen sections on both the free and members site. Check it out, I'm sure you'll find something there..

I know that the members gallery at Digital Blasphemy (http://www.digitalblasphemy.com) has a widescreen gallery. I'm not sure if the free gallery does or not but give it a shot, you might find exactly what you're looking for. I have a 24" Sony GDM-FW900 monitor that is wide screen, it was cool in the beginning but it got old kinda fast, so I replaced it with 2 20.1" DELL LCD monitors.. I absolutely love em'. Had a widescreen laptop too, but I started r

I've had similar problems in the past and it turned out to be a Windows problem and not anything with WB. It turned out the problem was caused by Windows not shutting down properly which caused several programs (not just WB) to lose their settings. It's kind of a side effect caused by XP's attempt at being more stable, if it doesn't shut down properly it rolls your changes back in case one of the changes made is what caused the problem. Now, as far as

c++ is quite hard and isnt used in many things anymore I think this is a bit off. C++ may be used for less these days but I would hardly say that it isn't used much anymore. Every application with the exception of 1 new web based app where I work continues to be developed using C++ and I have sever

Another home built rig here, DELL is the only pre-built I'd consider and even they can't offer the options I wanted. Anyway, it's time for an upgrade but this system has served me well for a while now: 2.53 GHz P4 ASUS P4S533 Mobo 1.5 GHz RAM 100 & 120 GB HDD's WinFast A400 GeForce 6800 GT w/ 256 MB RAM Sony DVD +/- RW Drive DVD-ROM Drive and all the other goodies you'd expect to find.. <img src="http://images.star

Talk about White Christmas.. I'm sitting here looking out the window in Houston, Tx and there's snow on the ground!!! I must admit after moving from colder climates I don't really miss having to shovel snow but it's definitely cool seeing a little snow on Christmas morning. Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and and a fantastic New Year!!

Agreed.. I'll never be one of the big contributers because I'm simply a coder by nature and graphics aren't really my thing. Heck, I may never upload another item, not for lack of desire but even if I come up with a good idea for a skin, widget etc. chances are it will get started but never see the completed state, Anyway, I guess I'm just trying to say 1000 is nothing more than a pat on the back for a relatively OK skin. I don't think anyone is under

"Setting the initial shield to 10k would encourage new skinners to create quality works to begin with" I think this statement is crap. I've only uploaded one skin here, it's a DX widget and I happen to think it's very good in both graphic quality as well as overall asthetics. It only has 2216 downloads, does that mean it's not "quality work" as you so eloquently put it? I don't think so, perhaps it's because DX objects are not as popular as WB

I was finally able to download it. Must have just been a temporary thing. As far as browser I didn't try IE but I always use FF. Once I found out there were Extensions to replce the one feature of IE that was holding me back I haven't used IE since. Thanks for the help guys!!

I wish it were that simple!! I initially went through Tiggz's home page but the links on the personal page just point to the same place the regular libraries point so I get the same error no matter where I try and get the file from. I tried finding it somewhere else but gave up quickly on that. Hopefully someone from SD peruses this list.. If not, I''' send 'em an e-mail about it. Thanks for trying!

When I try to download the GT3 WB skin by Tiggz I get the following error: Unhandled Error: Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type int. The statement has been terminated. Perhaps the skin has so many downloads the counter won't fit in an int anymore. That would be impressive!! Please help, I rarely feel like using skins that are this dark but for this skin I'm contemplating making a change, however I'm hoping my

I've noticed today that the new forums have a little problem with borders around the main post in a thread. See attached image: Also, I like the new breadcrumbs bar at the top for getting back to the forums quickly but why isn't that bar at the bottom also? After I've read all of the posts in a thread, I want to go directly back to the forum, I don't want to have to scroll

it may be good from an organizational standpoint to have separate OS and Data partitions Absolutely!! Completely forgot about that.. Give your OS a 10 or 15 GB partition (if you're also installing apps there) and keep all of your data on another partition. This GREATLY reduces your exposure should XP go awry. I never had this happen but you can never be too careful. Actually, using a registry editor or an easier way is using TweakUI for XP, you can store your My Documents, My Music and

AH, you ask the perfect question!! The benefit that NTFS will give you over FAT or even FAT32 is a saving of a great deal of space. If you use large partitions with FAT or FAT32 you are losing lots of your drive space to filesystem overhead. I don't know the exact numbers but with 120 and 200GB drives in my machine each with 2 partitions (just because a 200GB single drive is enormous) my cluster size is 4096 bytes. With FAT32 it would be something like 16 KBytes and I don't even think FAT will h

each has their own use but I would never try and create a heavy tabular layout using divs, it'd be a nightmare!! You can do some really cool stuff with DIV's and CSS absolute positioning but really a DIV is just a general container that can hold stuff. A table is VERY specific in it's purpose, to display tabular data, and I don't think DIV's are intended to be a replacement for tables. Sure, if you so desired you *could* replace tables with DIV's but I'm not sure why you would want to..

OK, here are my gripes about the new homepage. All of these stem from the fact that when I hit WC I'm looking to get to the libraries, and maybe see the newest news stories. 1) As others have said lose the right column. If those sections are important don't lose it but make it perhaps a strip of images of the latest skins, the text is just ugly and easy to miss right now. 2) On the left side lose or move the Sponsor/Daily shot/ and Se
