The report on 1.6 is good info, glad to see information starting to flow. Did I miss the ETA? Fezziwig, I'd go one step farther, or sideways, or whatever, and add that quest rewards (beyond the very earliest ones, at least) should be unique, and never found in goodie huts. I had a game with 3 Heartseekers, for example, and another with 2 Druss blades. Also, some fairly generic weapons (like Brutal Trog Scimitar, or Floating Maul), which have high a

Hmm, I will give that a try. It may have been auto "repairing" my adjustments. I did try at one point changing the triggertype to 10000 but that didn't help either. By the way, despite my impatient tone, I really appreciate your efforts.
I pretty much always make my sovereign a warrior and the first hero a commander, beelining straight to the xp bonuses. Between the bonuses to accuracy (yay cave bears!) and xp I can make my mid- and late-game heroes useful quickly.
Yes, of course it would. Accounted for it and re-edited each time.
1) None 2) multiple times + reinstall 3) yes, many times
Deleting the quest never did work. Don't know where it was drawing the information; still hate Night of Haunted Dreams Quest!
Great! Stardock - shove this into a patch please.
Stardock, this problem looks like it's fixed for you. Shove it into a patch.
During the battle for the boots of the spider (lift the lid, etc.) the hoarder spider attempts to summon, then the game will not proceed. Hoarder spider stays highlighted (on its turn), I can click anything, select units for more info, etc. but the battle will not proceed to the next creature/player. Related: I'm always amazed at any company's poor communication - how long does it take to write a post once a week saying "this is what we're workin
Oh yes, there's TONS of other bugs, just like any game. Don't get me wrong, I love this game. The stuff I mentioned is the stuff that makes me crazy during a game - watching my army start marching around an ocean rather than cross one square of not-mine territory, loading a saved game (especially early) and not getting a pioneer, answering the phone and coming back to a DirectX error. As an aside, I absolutely hate the Night of Haunted Dreams quest.&
1) Fix the damned crash on screensaver/lock screen. 2) Fix the units-don't-finish bug when loading autosaves. 3) What is the _point_ of the 3d terrain? On the large battle map it is so freaking hard to click on the correct square/enemy because the "invisible" edge of a hill or tree is in the way. Make the battles flat, make the icon a crosshairs on the exact spot that is "active" so I can stop seeing the "this action must hit
Well, I guess I can see the point; does the threshold scale with map size or anything like that? I'm with Belanos, I like to upgrade rather than replace my ships. On a huge map I may end up with 20-40 of a given class of ship costing 30K or more to upgrade. Maybe the penalty could phase in rather than an abrupt threshold... I can live with it, it just seems very artifical and crude in a game that is generally very nuanced. Cheers, Scott
A quick review of this forum did not show anyone with this issue, but I may have missed it. I apologize if this is a known issue. I had noticed a couple of games where, if I got large cash reserves, my income plummeted. I finally took a closer look at it in my current game. What I found was that, if my cash got over 10000, my trade income would drop by ~50%. No other income or expense seems to be affected. In the specific case that I wrote down, at just under 10000 my trade was 871
Mine are fairly boring. (Random Name) (Hull Size) (Speed)-(Range) (Weapon Type)(Attack Value) Spear M 4-3 B20 would be a medium hull, speed 4 range 3 with 20 points of beam weapons. As I update, the latter numbers change. A few specialty types will get variant names; I only build a couple of miners, for example, so they will get "Space Miner 4-3", how exciting! I try to keep the numbers of active types of ships small, and either upgrade (esp with high experience) or replace.
Is it just me, or is tech trading completely nerfed? I can't seem to trade anything for anything - I usually trade "medium" techs for cash and a few low-level techs. Now I can't get _anything_ for less than 5 or so medium techs. I know they AI is evaluating them - but they don't want trade? Miniturization? Research centers? I can see not paying much for the colonization techs, no worries there. Confused - makes it pretty tough to end a war as well - no value to techs. Maybe a decimal poi
I can't really imagine that you care about my opinion - but I'll post more anyway . I'm not sure I'd consider myself "sensitive" as much as "tired" of the flaming. A person smarter than me would have posted in the most egregious thread rather than the last one (of the ones I read before posting that day). I have not been a moderator. Donfield, I laughed at your post, I can totally imagine what you saw t
I've also seen this a number of times; I was just assuming that they started with the mancap and the notification was a bit flakey.
#4 was right at the limit, frankly. I only posted after reading a number of threads, this one was just the straw. This isn't even close to the worst one, nor were you two what I considered the worst offenders. Feel free to ignore my opinion, or flame away if you like. I'm not particularly vested in this board except for occasional troubleshooting. I keep seeing boards becoming wastelands, useful content and dialogue drowned by pointless flamewars. I'm down to a handful that I parti
There was once a game - maybe MOO2? - that had a range of colonizable types of planet _for each species_ - that is, some species preferred water worlds, radioactive, etc. and the PQ was different for each species. That would (to me) make a really interesting twist. Set some threshold value for colonization - say (just for discussion) a modified PQ=10. Initially, race X starts with a modifier to water world PQ of +20%, all others -80%. So, even some low-quality water worlds would be uninhabi
It's been over a year since I posted, and I only really scan the forums when I have a problem. With DA pending, I've been trying to catch up a bit. I have to say that the tone and civility of these boards has really taken a nosedive. Moderators, is there any chance of cracking down hard on this? I'd hate to see an otherwise useful forum become a wasteland of childish flamewars. I know that, based on this thread alone, I would have warned and temp banned thagee based on post #9 alone
I'm one of the boring ones - Fighting ships get names like L 9-3-M24 (Large hull, 9 speed, 3 range, 24 missile attack). Sometimes I'll add a "mk2" or something if I make a minor change like to defense or some such. Other ships (constructors and such) get names like Survey 13-7 (survey ship with 13 speed, 7 range), or Constructor 36-5 (36 speed, 5 range) etc. The speeds are all base speeds not modified speeds. Ho hum.... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smil
Because I have a TGN sub, I don't specifically have a serial for GCII. The TGN serial did not work, re-requesting the serial (several times and several ways) did not get anything else. Thanks for the suggestion though. Scott
Add me to the list of those who cannot activate. I have a TGN sub, which does not activate GCIIbeta. I had the beta 1 working. Has piracy been such a problem for stardock that this pita activation is really needed? My serials are for drengin and TGN (identical, doesn't work), GC 1 (tried it, doesn't work) and OD (didn't try it, I'd be just as annoyed if it did work!). Debug.err shows nothing - I did turn it on. No activate.* (was it .log that someon
I will toss out a warning. I just recovered my laptop (sony vaio) from a severe crashing problem (wouldn't boot sometimes, very frequent BSOD, etc.) that I ended up tracing back to the omega drivers. I hold little hope for myself that I will be able to play GCII. It's a shame that the laptop companies won't keep up with their video drivers... sigh. Scott
"...hard at work gutting, cleaning, and working a lot of the GC2 innards..." Have we been doing much fishing lately...? Scott
