Same problem, things slow down as soon as they hit the cogent network.

It looks like the whole thing stalls for you the second you hit Cogent's network. This, unfortunately, is something that is almost entirely outside of our control since the problem is on Cogent's network, and not specifically with our servers.
Impulse ( http://www.impulsedriven.com ) is the next generation of our digital distribution platform. It is replacing Stardock Central (which replaced Component Manager before it).
Sadly, nothing. I wasn't home long enough this weekend to play anything. Not that my PC feels like cooperating with me much lately anyway. Today thought I get parts for my new PC. Thinking of picking up Crysis on the way home to give the new system a workout.
Well, it's a beefy PSU in general, highly rated for power users and overclockers, so I figure that's going to handle this card OK. If it doesn't, then something is very wrong. I also picked up the Antec Nine Hundred case, which is loaded to the brim with fans and exhaust vents. Again, rated highly for gamers and such. The parts all arrive this afternoon. I'll probably be doing a set of articles with pics going through the unboxing, building and test
Last week we talked about the first details surrounding the 2008 GUI Champs. You now know the events, and when the whole competition kicks off. Armed with that knowledge, skinners can now begin their work in earnest to make sure they have their masterpiece skin ready for the big day. This week's question is whether or not you're going to participate in this year's competition. <IMG height=70 src="http:/
Ok, so we left the Impulse poll up for a full month (as opposed to our normal weekly schedule) to give people as much time as possible to think about switching, make the switch and then cast their vote. The poll originally went up several days before the full launch of Impulse and has been up for the first month of it's public life. So now, a month later we feel we have a pretty good sampling of our userbase. Turns out that a huge number of you have already made the switch w

Welcome back to the work week! I hope everyone had a great weekend and had some time to relax and catch up on all the nothing you can't get around to doing during the week. Personally, I could use a weekend to just sleep I've been so busy. But I guess that's what summer is all about; spending weekends traveling, visiting with friends, going to festivals etc. Now that it's Monday again though it's back to the grindstone. And to keep with our normal Monday programm
With the last of my parts coming in this afternoon, I'm building a new PC with a 4850 512MB card. This is a jump from a 7800 256MB AGP card :) For those who already own one, any thoughts or considerations for when I install the card beyond the driver issues?

We're looking into it now.

As a community of digital artists, I figured everyone might be interested in some of the graphics tools we've been releasing through Impulse, our next-generation digital distribution platform. We've been very fortunate to have a great partner in Corel, one of the leaders in graphic design tools. Since the release of Impulse, we've been working to release many Corel applications. <
You mean team iSore right?
Corel WinDVD 9 and Painter X are the latest applications to be available on Stardock's Impulse, the next-gen digital distribution platform. WinDVD 9 is an application for video playback of Blu-ray, HD-DVD, and standard
If it was never released, there's no way for any of us to know whether or not the assets are new for the competition skin. So I say it's fine. We're trying to prevent people from reusing their released work which has already been seen, tested, refined based on feedback etc. I want everyone on as even a playing field as possible when it comes to creating the skins.
Elsius... here's how the pricing works for MyColors Themes... Full Theme: $19.95 Why: MyColors Themes are bundled with the software required to run them. You are paying for the technology as well as the theme itself. This is for users who have no software and want JUST the theme. WinCustomize Subscriber: $14.95 (when applicable) Why: WC subscribers, in the case of Rockstar, already have free access to the skin.
Last month, Seabass of Stardock Support took the initiative and started what is intended to be a monthly newsletter covering common issues people are encountering with their software, and some simple fixes to try. The idea is to give users more information, get problems resolved quickly and hopefully reduce the number of identical tickets support has to wade through, leaving them free to respond to other issues.
We're prepping a WindowBlinds update for Think Green right now. It should be up in about 30min. This should only be impacting users who have WB installed.
Stardock has released MyColors 2.5 today. MyColors is a software program that includes everything you need to change everything about your Windows experience. MyColors changes your Windows visual style, icons, wallpaper, and even adds gadgets to your desktop. These gadgets can range from media players to weather forecast gadgets depending on the theme. It doesn't modify any system files and enables users to easily switch between themes and back to default Windows with just a f
G4E: They're free. If you choose to buy the full suite, you get a $5 discount. You're not getting a short end of any stick just because we offer a larger paid version of something we provide for free.
Subscribers must pay $14.95 for the wallpaper.
And the icons, and the gadgets.
As part of our ongoing effort to give subscribers more bang for their buck, we added professional skins to the subscription package earlier this year. To start things off we released Stardust, a new skin by Adni18. Today we're ready to release another skin, and give you a hint of what's next in the pipeline. Our second Subscri
Hence why we haven't committed to any true team events yet. We're trying to figure out how best to include one (if we do)
