Wow, necrothread! Do I like my job? Hell yeah. I get to work on amazingly cool stuff each and every day. Where most of the folks I went to school, and later worked with, are in jobs where they do one task, and that task takes months and months. I also get to work with some extremely smart and cool folks. A stark contrast to my previous job, which I hated with a passion.

The 8800GT is the best of those cards.
Update: We had the dates wrong initially on the main post. The deadline is NEXT wednesday (Aug 13th).
Here's a tip: Be as specific and directed in your questions as possible. Vague questions like "When are they going to fix the card?" or "What's next?" are pretty open-ended and hard to answer. Part of what we're looking for in questions is not just the topic, but also in how it's formed. A good question can get a lot of great information in an interview. We want questions to spark discussion and keep things interesting.
Congrats Mike, and welcome to the new super-secret project!
Now don't get me wrong, there are some people who were just flat-out screwed by the economic down-turn through little fault of their own (companies lay off workers as economy worsens, hard to find a new job etc.). Those folks could use some help. My issue is with the people who have no impulse control, and then expect someone to come to their rescue.
This week saw another blow to the beleaguered US housing market with the release of foreclosure statistics
I have a question for the Moderators. For my windowblind I have a background wallpaper that I am thinking of possibly using, the female is holding a cigarette. Will this affect the outcome of my blind via judging ect, as some people don't smoke, some see it as filthy? The wallpaper is my own work.
Assuming the wallpaper is 100% your own work (as in you took the original photo used in the wallpaper), then it's fine.
48x48 icons packs will not be accepted onto the contest site. Entries that do not meet the minimum technical requirements will be rejected at moderation to keep the contest galleries clean and easy to browse.

There will be no events for DesktopX, ObjectDock or any media players. The 2008 GUI Champs will cover WindowBlinds, IconPackager and DeskScapes.
Dreamxis: We're going to talk over the 256x256 icon requirement, and whether or not to lower it. However I can tell you that 48x48 icons will be too small, and we won't be lowering the limit that far. 48x48 icons are just too small.
We will be requiring 256x256 sized icons as a base requirement for Icon packs. So in that category, XP vs Vista won't matter. And to vStyler, if there are two skins that are dead-even in terms of art and design, the one that handles both OSes will have an edge. Note that since we will have a judging panel, there will probably be differences in opinion on what the best skin is in terms of art quality. Judges will be instructed to use the XP/Vista consideration if they
The basic concept behind the "Best Overall" events is to look for the skin that is truely the best overall (shocking, I know). This includes design, quality of art, and technical prowess. A skin that is awesome looking, well designed and uses as many technical features as possible will win out over one that just meets two of the three areas. We want to reward technical accomplishment as well as artistic accomplishment in these events. But like ID says, it won't fac
Sorry folks, last week just wasn't a good week for this. We tried to do a show but with everything else we were working on, we just couldn't manage it. But we do have at least one killer episode coming up that I think the gear-heads around here will really enjoy.
It's a Master Day here it seems! We started off with J. Aroche's promotion to Master Skinner, and continue on with a brand new Master Skin from vStyler! <A href="https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid
Of course, if you've ever used a J. Aroche skin, you already knew he was a master at his craft. His CursorFX skins, dock icons and Icon Packs are some of the best work you'll find here at WinCustomize. So in recognition of his immense talent and contributions to the community, we've named J. Aroche our newest Master Skinner. <TABLE
Taken care of.
Sure, we just need people willing to join in on the fun. It's been tough the last few weeks.
Welcome to Episode 14! This week it's just Spencer and I again yammering on and on about random crap. We spend the show talking about the iPhone 3G release, the new Rockstar MyColors theme, and the GUI Champs 2008. If you're a GUIC hopeful, give this week's show a listen. StardockCorporation.demarc.cogentco.com is the boundary point where anything after that point is Stardock equipment. Think of it as the property line. Everything to one side belongs to us, everything on the other side is Cogent/someone else. We are working on being less dependent on a single provider for our connectivity. It's just a bit of a slow process (I was out in another datacenter on Friday for this problem)
