The fact that it's the most used/skinned mediaplayer the last many years, doesnt just change overnight You're absolutely wrong. Windows Media Player is the most used internet application according to Neilsen/Netratings. It isn't even in the top 10. It has more skins than WMP but not the market share - not even close.

jaidaksghost should get some props for boosting the desktop x widgets quality up a notch. But to me i think the widgets in general are uncompelling as programs go. Clocks, calendars are great but nothing special. My taskbar tells me my time with a glance. There needs to be a widget braintrust that sits down and thinks about creating things that haven't been created yet that are "must have" applications. This tied in with amazing graphics will result in a higher adoption rate for a specific widge

the company with the best looking "widgets" will win. So far Avedesk and konfabulator (who harnesses the mac artist community) seems to be in the lead. I have yet to see desktop x widgets that are really aethetically enticing. If Stardock wants to gain favor i suggest they hire some decent artists to create their widgets. Because what's there now is lacking - badly.

what i don't get about all this is why bother changing your whole desktop to a mac when you can just go out and buy a mac? Makes no sense to me all. I guess maybe because mac has about 5% of the software that Windows has. A copy of something is still a copy no matter how you dress it up. Why not have the real thing? I do like the mac wallpapers that are all wispy but that doesn't really count.

jamoman: its 6 skins and 2 wallpapers in it. The WMP skins alone are about 25mb due to the intense animations and sound effects. Since no one is forcing you to actually download it you really have nothing to worry about. You'll still have plenty of spare bandwidth to keep downloading those Britney Spears songs of Kazaa -)
