how will it look on a laptop? I guess the same as an lcd. I have it on my laptop and it looks fine.

well you can always bring the text into Microsoft Word and do a spell check - which was basically my point. DWatson - i think possibly monday or tuesday. Most likely monday. It went through a lot of bug testing since it's shipping on their machines. I'll give you one more peek though:

Oh here's a funny story speaking of rips... a client of ours the other day sends me their new SDK for their app. So i open it up and what do i find?? They jacked one of our old skins and converted the images in the format of their application. I was like HUH? I said man you RIPPED our skin!! hehe. Skindication is indeed trademarked with the Federal Government. I should know as it cost me a fortune to do it. Well the attorney fees did. We never just slap a ™ on something unless we actually TM'ed it. Just to make sure that's clear. Skindication came from the idea that we will be syndicating our skins or in essence reselling one design to multiple people. I have zero memory usage issues when running them as long as you don't have the coolant chamber animations running. Super low actually. It's only when the animations are running that it goes high but that would be with any program that was engaged in an active and ongoing animation.

well Brendan before you go writing Microsoft off with regards to "not getting anywhere" read some stats. The last Nielsen/Net Ratings report i read had Windows Media Player as the most used internet application. It beat out AOL AIM, Real Player and ICQ. So while they still need some improvements like 8-bit alpha masks they are still number one. Doesn't hurt that WMP is on every copy of Windows. But i'm not complaining. Means it's easier to use our skins. Don't even get me started on the appearan

just because you see a ™ on a name doesn't mean it's a valid ™. We had our patent attorney's do ours and it takes like 6 months to go through. I think companies slap a ™ on stuff without really registering them with the trademark office

Could an entrant submit a port from WMP to WB if more than 75% of the art was new? I ask because the only way we would have time would be if we entered a wb skin roman and i are working on. The only thing the same would be the titlebars and some of the buttons. Rest is being redone by roman.

grayhaze: while i may not be too fond of you at the moment - the last skin you did the gold/silver looks really really good. You should definitely be entering this contest. What i tried to say at the start is the contest is a good idea i just don't see us having time to enter it. 4 weeks from now is not enough time for us considering our workload. That's why the guys won't be doing it unless we can enter that port i mentioned.

Davad70: It's definitely tough working under someone else but you did really well with what you had to work with. Not easy making a gold skin look presentable... and you did that. I think you should still be doing this stuff. Second guessing yourself is okay as long as you know when to "quit" second guessing. I think it would be a real waste for you not to continue skinning considering the talent you possess.

I didn't trivialize this until i was attacked. I said this over and over again i support the GUI Olympics and if i didn't all ready commit myself to the 2 charities skins we as a company would enter. We're too busy working on 8 projects right now with more coming in and top of that the 2 charity skins. We don't have the time to enter. We've been working on a wb skin for fun and had to put it on hold. That's it. That's why we are not participating. There is no other reason then what i said. Brad
