The support Stardock gives to their games is easily one of the biggest reasons I have no problems pre-ordering their stuff. You're easily the best publisher around. Just make sure you're not giving too much away for free! I don't mind paying for Siege (Partially because I adore Tower Defense) if it keeps the lights on!
[quote who="fantstc1" reply="2" id="3729849"] I'm thinking this might all matter in having a better understanding of what will produce, how quickly, in what order -- and whether there is actually such a thing as sub-optimal production speed. OK, so a few more questions to clarify: 1) I'm hearing you say that each "tick" of production might require a certain amount of metal, and a certain amount of rad; and if you are lacking either one (let's
[quote who="xyphonic" reply="4" id="3730001"] But to my mind, Ashes is what Starcraft II could've been. Starcraft unfortunately become all about "actions per minute", while Ashes lacks flash it might be the best strategic game I've ever played. And part of that is due to its simplicity - games that get too complicated become mired down in it. Like chess, its about finding that balance of simpli

The other option is to leave the hovering units in, and make a whole new class of ground-based vehicles that are tougher than their hovering equivalents, but cannot traverse water, along with boats that will easily outperform hovering ships. With a second option being a third race that doesn't use hovering vehicles at all, and thus always needs to use proper warships.
Your CPU is going to get hot, yeah. That's just the nature of using a laptop for gaming. Just make sure it can vent that heat out (Or use a chiller pad) and you'll be fine.
Better than my desktop, and it plays Ashes no problem, so you'll be golden.
[quote who="HighrollinAC" reply="10" id="3716331"] Quoting RomeoReject, reply 4 Yes, it's currently really annoying that you have to cancel every reinforcement queued up in order to get a factory to produce a unit on its own. <b
The thing is, short of giving retreating units a speed boost (Which would make no sense), there's no real solution for that. If you turn and run at 20KMH and my tanks are chasing you and shooting you at 20MPH, you're just going to die without retaliating.
Full disclosure, I'm one of those folk firmly in the "I forces you to try. If every race in a game can play the same way, although there's the potential for variety, the inspiration for it is diminished - after all, we're naturally going to default to whatever works best. For example, in the first Endless Space, the original races, while slightly diffe
Yeah, Chris Taylor has sadly stopped being relevant quite some time back. He seems hell-bent on being the next big talking point rather than building the next great strategy. Touching on your point regarding strategic/tactical missiles, I always appreciated that there were defensive options against those as well. There's nothing worse than building up a force full of veteran soldiers in Command and Conquer... Only to have them comp
Counterpoint: This is where GeneralsGentleman does his blog posts, and they're worth the price of admission just on their own.
No I don't, and thank Christ for that. I've yet to play a single e-sport hopeful that didn't feel compromised in order to chase that dream.
[quote who="fantstc1" reply="14" id="3711508"] Hrm. I have one word for you: Golf. It only happens to be the second most popular sport in terms of viewership, right? I'd speculate there is a lot more going on there than just "action." Yeah, I'm hoping some of the Dreads/Juggs we get in the future are a little more ridiculous looking. The Czar isn't awesome because it's a flying T4 unit - it's awesome because it's like playing the mothership from Independance Day. The Monkeylord isn't awesome because it's a T4 mech - it's awesome because you can watch leagues of T2 and T3 units simply disappear before its maser. The T4s in the game both look and act super unique among all other units. That's something I hope we get down the
I don't have anything to add, but I will say there's several things Ashes does better than SupCom, with the biggest one (To me), being the Experimental Tier equivalents: The Dreadnoughts. For all their power, Tier 4 units in Supreme Commander aren't really any different than Tier 3 or anything else, they're just significantly more expensive and powerful. But Dreadnoughts feel like Support Commanders in the sense that you can "make them yours". That kind of RPG element is something I h
I've often wondered that myself. The only reason I can think of is because you're usually trying to "restore" an army to a certain composition. So if you lose all your Medics, you don't want more Artillery, Dreadnought killers and AA, you want more Medics. That said, still don't understand why they didn't have a "keep at this level" form of repeating build queues.
Aw, I liked Strategic Bomber... Overpowered Bomber sounds weird.

This was a really cool, really inspiring article man. Good luck with the immigration process, and congrats on having landed your dream job!
Make no mistake, I would love more singleplayer content, but that stuff takes time and money, and this is a smaller company. You gotta let them finish what they're up to now, then Ashes can get a bit more love.
I cannot speak highly enough of you and the team. The amount of ongoing support Ashes has been getting is fantastic - and you've got me as a customer for life.
