I find this argument a little poor honestly. For two main reasons: 1) Epic is still a privately owned company and whilst Tencent owns a cut they don't have a controlling share. 2) It's harder to find companies that Tencent doesn't have a cut in. From Discord to Reddit, Blizzard to Paradox they're everywhere. Of course it's your choice where you spend your money but if that is the issue for you then you're gonna find vanishingly fewer games to enjoy.

Please don't make multiple posts in the same thread for different questions like this. The UI is being worked on still. As for sys requirements you can find them in our FAQ. The game is NOT optimized yet. But if you can GC3 you should be fine running GC4, the biggest bump is in GPU requirements for the new graphics. https://www.galciv4.com/faq
Does the existance of GalCiv IV mean Gal Cive 3 availability will disappear along with our digital bits to play the game because some 3rd party launcher decides it needs for sever space?
GalCiv 3 isn't going anywhere and in fact we will continue to have updates.

Yeah the current tech setup is by no means final. The big issue is making a "tech tree" that works with the more dynamic way you can get techs and aren't always exclusive or might require multiple prereqs etc. This two lane system you're proposing is interesting but as always this also comes back to scope creep and if it's worth maintaining two different systems for what is just one aspect of the game. I'll run it by the team though.
Thank you all for your replies. SchismNavigator. Stardock 'appears' to "maintain independant downloaders, managers and various apparatus to handle payment processing etc." for it's other software but not GalCiv ? Falconer. I remember being shocked in my early days at Steam at somehow receiving a readout of the information Steam had collected on me. Which included the exact hardware and ALL installed software de

Probably not. It's just not viable for developers to maintain independent downloaders, managers and various apparatus to handle payment processing etc. It should be noted right now on EGS you can launch the game without launching the EGS client. But you do still need the client to download the game and update. The same is true of our games on Steam and even GOG has its limitations. This is just the way games are sold and distributed these days.
I know I'm in a very small minority, but Epic Store is a non-starter for me. I'm a Linux gamer, and the Epic store is a major PITA to use. I am, however, a major Stardock supporter and own multiple franchises and DLC. Subscribing to the thread for when GC4 becomes more available for my needs.
I wish someone with Stardock would reply because Epic is currently having a sale in which you would get a $10 discount if you bought the game but the sale ends on the 17th. This game I would not buy on Epic without a confirmation that I would get a Steam key when the game comes to Steam. That is because of the Steam workshop and its mods. I think people forget that Epic Games has been around since 1991 (30 years) whilst VALVe has only been around since 1996 (24 years). I don't think you have to worry about the idea of Epic shutting down anytime soon. They have been around longer than VALVe/Steam and have a lot of money and regular income. They are also not beholden to shareholders as they are still a private company, like both VALVe and Stardock.

The two versions are live and test. If you feel brave go on the test branch for the most buggy builds. However, when you come here or on discord about feedback please make sure you know which version you are on and cite it so we don't get all confused. I've noted the survey ship bug and your request for credit-trade precognition.
