When people behave badly online they usually just end up making fools of themselves as in the case of that couple who attacked your fantasy book. It was pretty clear to any rational person that there wasn't anything political about the thing. I think we can all act poorly at times on the internet. I know the Mid East is a giant mental institution and that we should probably wait for a while to see what shakes out, but the fall of Ghaddafi in Tripoli and the potential toppling of the Iranian Mullahs leads me to reconsider whether I should totally give up on Bush's policy.
