There are a lot of good things in win 8. Unfortunately Metro is useless. I've been using this CP for 3 weeks now and am just getting comfortable on the desktop. Everything I have in win 7 is working here now and I must admit some things work better. Like my ATI Radeon 5450 video card which when using the win 8 drivers from ATI works way better. If I could just lose the Metro thing and get my proper start menu back, I'd be happy.

This is Cool. I was hoping for the old start menu but I guess that isn't doable. Further to my discourse above I did get some games etc going by changing the access privileges. They work intermitently. I'm playing with screensavers now to check the video under stress. It seems to run the complex ones better than in Win 7. Better ATI Radeon driver I guess. I writing this on IE 10 which I really like although it is a bother to find your favorites.I like the desktop version better.

I'm on Day 3 with Win 8 and here's how its going. The Dual Boot Tool works perfectly for me on Win 7 64. The biggest problem I have is this jumping back to the Desktop thing when you run anything that isn't Metro. If they go Metro, they'll have to rename it to just Metro since there are no Windows. Some win 7 programs run funny, some not at all ( My wife's BIg Fish games won't run...she has to boot into Win 7 to play them) but most seem fine. This thing is unbelievably fast. Ev

I agree with you Snowman, Newgen allows me to have the taskbar and system tray visible on the fancy tile screen. If Win 8 makes it difficult to see or access these then I'll have a BIG problem with it. Wizard1956 makes a good point. I got Win 7 cause I needed a new box. I suspect preloaded on a system will again be the easiest route. If it will use Win 7 drivers things should be managable. Big IF. Safest thing is probably to watch the comments on the Dev Preview, then the Beta, mayb

I haven't downloaded the Developer Preview because I only have one machine, it's mission critical and I can't risk it. However I have been working with an easy to use program called NewGen from the CodePlex site. It simulates a Metro Tile interface fairly well and although it is not Windows 8, it lets you experience working with a Tile interface rather than a Desktop. I've been using it for about 2 months and once I got it organized the way I wanted it to b

Whoa guys, I didn't mean to cause all this controversy. Yes, it is a hacked msstyle and I'd like to use a windowblinds skin rather than this which was the reason for the post.

Alstein, I agree with your point on price gouging. I just wonder what's our alternative? Should we ask the (shudder) government to impose or negociate a Fair and Reasonable price structure on the infrastructure owners, then open up the market. Thats what i'd like. The open market I mean. Not the government interference. Then bandwidth would be cheap, pay for use plans would be viable, services like netflix could expand massively, we'd all gooble up bandwidth and the big providers

As a little guy who uses maybe 500mb a month, I resent being forced to pay a flat rate to subsidize the bandwidth hogs who play games and watch movies. If they use 10 times as much bandwidth, why shouldn't they pay 10 times the rate I pay. No matter what people would have you believe, the internet is not a necessity. The world could survive without it. It should be a user pay system with thje biggest users paying the biggest bills. Also the cable and telco companies should be allowed

Is it possible to ask one of you amazingly talented skinners to create a Metro Ui skin like the one JayCee13 at DeviantArt has? I tried his but the replacing of system files crashed my win7 64 machine. I barely got it back. I'd like to have the look and I trust you people. Thank you in advance
