I've been using DesktopX in Vista. The only issue I've noticed is that the Script Editor uses a weird font instead of Courier New.

Whatever it was, after a reinstall everything works fine. At the moment. Will post back if it occurs again.

but most people are perfectly fine using even skins with per-pixel borders on GeForce 3/Radeon 9800-class cards. I can confirm that Geforce 4 and Radeon 9800 are very nice and more than capable of serving all the effects.
the ini file might be corrupted. B the looks of it the script requires the file to have two lines of data in it. What's the content of that ini file?
Try adding a shortcut in the Statup folder where you Run As an admin.

What browser do you use? FF for instance got extensions to let you override stuff on sites. You could use something like that to change to font to Tahoma which is narrower.
