You just killed another reason to not install Vista on my box. The blurring in Vista is hardly a reason to upgrade. It's the stuff under the hood that's the important bit. Stuff you won't see in a screenshot.
im still paying off this pc i got a year ago...cant even think about vista upgrade..plus i heard if you got vista your printer wont work anymore (you have to upgrade or something)....(i love my printer) someone tell me if thats wrong please...filthy rumours always seem to swing my way......... My Canon Pixma ip4000 works fine with Vista. It'd all depend whether the company producing the printer bother to offer a driver compatible with Vista. Vista itself
I wouldn't say that selecting what services to run is easy. So many rely on each other so it's nice to have an app offer predefined setups.
On my start menu now I got a Stardock folder, a Object Desktop folder and one for ThinkDesk Then inside the Stardock folder there's yet another Object Desktop folder that contains shortcuts that isn't in the other Object Desktop folder. And there's also an Object Dock folder there. Could you please create the start menu folder more consistently please? I move, or remove folder to clean up, but they're recreated on each update. And also, please don't make settings
I'm not too sure that disabling the UAC should be highest on the recommendation list. Yes, the UAC is annoying, I've disabled it myself. But that's because I'm a poweruser and play around with system settings and such all the time. But for someone who only uses the computer for internet and office apps, then they won't be affected that much by the UAC.
I myself WILL NOT get Vista not because it looks cool,and it dose. but because that Microsoft is not telling people that if you UPGRADE From XP or older then you will have to go out and buy a new monitor, Graphics Card, new speakers, DVD, ect... as for the monitor and stuff it is not or will not be compatible with Vista when they turn the Digital switch on in 2009. all do to the new DRM . That's just FUD. Plain and simple.
And still there's people out there that claim that Vista flopped...
At first alpha transparency was the holy grail. Then you went out and made it work. ...and how you got blurring working on XP?! ... That's dark magic that is...
I've allways reverted back to using the Explorer Shell. All of the Shell replacements I've tried have turned out to lack some of the useful features the explorer shell offers.
I assume quite a few of you have heard of Xion by now. The skinnable mediaplayer that let you create skins by just using Photoshop. I just came across an application that let you make interactive GUI's with Photoshop. You set up all the elements as various groups and layers in Photoshop which then gets compiled into a interactive screen. The product page got a movieclip that gives a brief preview of how it's done.

Sounds great. The tabs are a mere convenience than necessary IMO. UTF-8 support is one of my biggest hopes.

Yea, that's been the case since the beginning. DX widgets can do pretty much what any other regular application and such can do. In my little collection of unfinished projects I got a gadget to measure angles and lengths on the monitor by placing rulers across the desktop. And another project is a application launcher type of widget. I think SD is trying to address this by making a new product where coders can create a skinnable widgets. The reason for not wanting to use msgbox is that it can get into loops at places, and really mess you up. yea, Evil Msgbox Loop of Doom!
DIdn't really find the Ribbon feature that much of an hassle. People go on that menu's has been around for a long time and works great. But I find the Ribbon to work better for a feature rich app like Office. I find sub menu after sub menu more of an hassle really.
dynamic WBs.... inactive windows will get dusted and covered by cobweb. Absolutely no practiacal use,... but cool.
I had small issues with CS2. Occationally the drawing space and toolbars woulbe become unresponsive. And some other graphical glitches happened some times. Just upgraded to CS3 and it seem to work alot nicer.
Systray work for me. You might want to hold off the dramatic titles until you know all the facts.
