hm... desktop.ini files doesn't have anything to do with the visual theme of windows. It does however contain information of folders, such as their custom icons etc. I'd try to copy those files you lost from a friend or someone else with the same OS.

Shells are more than just the User Interface. There's a lot of backend stuff as well, so setting a random program as Shell will remove other functions in Windows.

From the MS docs on their sidebar: It is not possible to have a transparent region in the middle of your gadget. It is also not possible to have partially transparent regions, such as a shadow, on the edge or in the middle of a gadget. Attempting this will lead to a poor appearance in many cases. <br/

Not as far as I know. If it is then I'd like to hear about it. For instance I just happend to notice by pure fluke that you now can enter hex colour values. Maybe we should post the syntax we know here, and then compile something for our self? What about a little section here at WC for syn files?

What? No proper Vista drivers for the Live series? That's annoying. I noticed that on Vista I could only select stereo speakers and not 5.1 as I could in XP. I thought Live was still a widely used soundcard... but then again, I haven't been paying attention much since I bought my Dell.

so you got the Radeon 9800 Pro video card to actually work? What about the sound card? Cause as allot of people know Creative labs isn;t releasing the finally drivers until Jan 30th! So did everytthing else work? Did you get Aero to work? Have you looked that Performance area where Vista tells you in percentage on how slow it is

I built mine last summer and tried the Vista RTM out and it works like a charm. I bought my PC in 2003 and it stills runs good. Got a four point something rating in the Vista performance rating system. Most computers sold the last couple of years will ahve no trubble running Vista. Only thing is wheter the

I wish someone would explain to me the benefits of Ultimate as opposed to Home Premium. I don't see what's there for the home user to justify the huge price difference. Probably no great benefit. Vista Ultimate is for the powerusers. I will get Ultimate for my main PC, but I might get one of the lighter ver

Introducing vector capabilities to skinning will be very interesting. I've been hoping for that for a few years now. I think you might be right Brad, that we all need new toys. I think the biggest thing Vista had brought to skinning is it's improved 3D capabilities and hardware acceleration. I'm really looking forward to seeing applications that utilizes this. But the software doesn't have to be revolutionary in what they present to the end user. Look at Xion the musicplayer. http://xion.r2.

There is already a section here for that. The "Graphics" gallery. It's gone a tad wild lately but I believe that was the original intent of that section. Ok, I didn't know that. In which case, may I suggest that in the upcoming update to WC that this section might be presented in a more apparent manner? A l

I've been using WB since it was in version 2. I've only released one skin which was about the time WB3 came out. I like designing skins. I got quite a few of them on my computer. But it's the work of putting it in to SkinStudio that has prevented me of completing any more skins. By the time I get to finish one I've gotten new ideas for new skins and I don't have the self control to finish what I started. And with each version of WB there is more option

So, am I getting this right. If KS would run into this problem there will be a messagebox alerting me? Or will it silently fail? I'm somewhat concerned about that because I tend to have quite deep folder structure as well.

I've become so comfortable with my RC2 version of Vista now that I have to get it when it comes out for consumers. I'll get Vista Ultimate for my main system. But not necessarily for my other system. I might for for a lighter version or simply stick with XP for a while. As for my parents, I won't recommend upgrading their system. They simply just do not need it. However, they've been thinking of replacing their desktop system with a laptop instead
