I continued the game I mentioned above yesterday and in the end I was able to buy the last 3 Drengin planets (only race left) via techs, doesnt look good I am afraid :( If I recall correctly the minor races rightfully refused to trade away their last planet ...

Well, it was 0.9.017, I think that is 4Z, at least I had to download a bunch of files ;) But I am happy that it sounds like it is not supposed to be the way judging from your reaction ;) Just counted the planets again, it is October 2183, the best AI owns 4 planets, the other 3 own 2 (1 has sold ALL its planets to me - 3 I seem to recall) and I own 44, doesnt look pretty, and like I said I hope for a smarter gameplay/trade from genius AIs ;) I think I gave each of them

And for those that dont want a US keyboard layout: You can switch back to your "normal" layout imediatly after typing the "@" by using "Alt" and "Shift" again ;) But I will surely agree that there has to be another long-term solution for this ;)

I had the same problem with a german keyboard, but since I set up a US-keyboard layout as my secondary choice (WinXP) there was a key combination for switching to the US-layout, argh, cant remember it at the moment, but I wrote it in the other thread...

I like the improvements ;) What still bothers me is the AIs willingness to trade planets for tech/trade goods at the start/early stages of the game. In the current gigantic galaxy I play vs 5 genius AIs I have bought about 20 of the 30 planets the AIs own via selling tech/trade goods. While this might be acceptable vs lower level AIs I would have hoped that the smarter ones would recognize the long term value of their planets. Heck, I even bought the homeplanets of 2 o

Hmm, I just have played around a bit with my lastest endgame (16x16 sector galaxy, 5xgenius AI) and found to my astonishment that I got 1.4 million points as my score when I destroyed the last remaining race. When I didnt invade the last planet, but waited for a tech-victory I only recieved about 700,000 points. This looks wrong to me since I have not really done anything different and I even finished the game on the same turn as the game I won by conquest.

The one thing that bothers me the most at the moment (besides not being able to submit my scores to the metaverse for braging rights ;) ) is the AIs willingness to trade it planets for tradegoods. It looks like the AI is considering the value of its planets based on the current output of the planet and since this tends to be fairly low on fairly new planets I am often able to trade 1 tradegood for 1 planet. This makes even genius level games much to easy IMHO. I think the AI sh

Those "few demands" remind me of something that bothers me: Extortion seems to be not really working in my experience. I was playing an evil race vs. 5 genius AIs, and all but one planet was owned by my race (2 races attacked me and were whiped out on all of their planets) and the rest fell to my influence (12x12 map). I was engaged in some HUGE deficit spending and after selling most of my technologies and all trade goods I was starting to run out of money. I

I havent seen this one posted before, but maybe it is just a very old bug: It looks like each "production" icon window is able to hold only 2x30 big (worth 10) icons for each star. But in the later stages of the game that number often is not enough to show all the research/production icons the planet produces each turn. Every icon in excess of 600 will still be displayed in the next row which will look pretty bad in the end. Close to the end of my last game my Earth (c

Just a quick comment: Neither copy and paste nor "Alt" and "64" worked for me under WinXP, but simply switching the keyboard layout to US-keyboard finally did the trick for me (@ was at "Shift" and "2"). Looks like the default keys for switching the layout are "Alt" and "Shift" at least in the german version of XP.
