I think they tried this and it made LRFs melt as they have a similar armor composition to that of bombers.
That would explain it. Hmm ... I think that end game bomber spam can be very powerful in many ways. The only real solution I can see is to create a new category of armor specifically for bombers and somewhat buff fighters and flak to be more effective against it. That a

I've always wondered about fighters. Perhaps they should be given a buff relative to bombers? But yeah, I can't see in the case of Heavy Cruisers how else they could be made competitive.
Installation was complete and it's looking like the 2GB limit is working. What size maps are you playing? I think about 100 stars is ok, any more and it will use more than 2gb physically.
First, I think not all particles are showing up on my game? Within my documents, there's a file called rebellion.user.setting. This I think is the limit: MaxParticleCount 7200 If I set it to this, MaxParticleCount 72000 Should it solve that problem? The other is the AI bonus. I think in the 1.82 patch notes, the AI at the higher d

Now that I think about this, anti-light would be better suited for a 2nd weapon on all cruisers versus anti-very light. But yeah, I'm at a loss as to how else they could be made effective, other than a flat out buff to their firepower and hp.
The problem with heavy cruisers is that their intended counter is bombers, which are an extremely popular unit. They are also somewhat of a jack of all trades unit, as they can counter most other combat frigates, but other units do a better job at killing any one particular kind of unit. They used to be the best non-carrier unit against LRF, but corvettes took that role from them. If bombers were less good or they got buffed against a certai
Yeah, after painful discovery you find that all units you can train can have no more than 4 SelectedAbilityBonusOptions, this includes the blood traits. So, effectively you can only put 3 other abilities per trainable unit. On the other hand, you can have lots of SelectedAbilityBonusOptions, if you are not going to train the unit but be given the unit via a spell or quest or treasure.
You c

Maybe giving heavy cruisers some sort of flak ability would help? Not sure if this would introduce other problems though.
The problem with the terribly dull combat in GC2 was not just the lack of any interaction but weapons tech is just a boring numbers game. The difference between laser1 and phaser was nothing but a number. No range,no rate of fire,no shield penetration or anti armor bonus.Games like Dominions4 and gratuitous space battles show that you do not need full control to make it interesting. To me it kinda dilutes the rock, paper, scissors tactical aspect in the turn based combat. I'd prefer if they had more roles and specialization to units more like pre-determined roles for different unit templates in addition to customization that is within that role. AoW did this well with their different specializations, tiers, category of units but it didn't have

I find that Heavy Cruisers don't have much of a place in most fleets. Although they can be somewhat useful as tanks, they generally don't seem to last very long against certain strategies or abilities like Chastic Burst. It's not so much that they are weak in absolute terms as much as it is that their cost makes them hard to justify. Should they be given some sort of a buff?
