That's generally for rips on this site Tech Cat. If it's a rip which could affect more than one skinner, and it's on another site outside of the skinning community 'loop', then it's sometimes a good idea to bring wider attention to it.

It's all a lie to attract American tourists. We lure them into a back street with loud music and then cover them in a hail of rotten vegetables. It's an annual event, but it's also one of the best kept secrets.
It's actually d'oh, or at least that's the way Matt Groenig writes it.
1280x960, but then I'm weird that way. 1280x1024 is one of those odd resolutions without the usual aspect ratio of the others. With 1280x960, I can use all the 1600x1200 wallpapers without them looking distorted.

You could probably put that in a gallery and sell it for millions Mark.
time to get some skins that look like they've had a life or 2 I made a skin once which took a life or two. It was deemed too dangerous by the Government, so now it's only installed on one machine, locked away in a secret facility somewhere in the Nevada desert.
Well I'm pleased that there's a more positive attitude to this approach, and I've now got some thinking to do to decide whether to go through with the work. Thanks for all the encouragment folks.
I guess my real point is that it makes sense to only include those applications which the majority of users will have in common. You're then not creating extra unnessesary work for the initial release of the suite, as those extra skins can be produced at a later date as demand calls for them, and can put a little more focus into producing those skins which 'everyone' who buys the suite are likely to be using. It would also cut down on extra 'bloat' for the release, and those users who a
With all due respect anthony, don't take someone's comments out of context and then criticize. All the extras would be better placed as free downloads or very cheap optional extras when purchasing. It's all very well spending a couple of weeks extra making a Trillian skin, for example, but if only 1 in 4 of the people who buy the suite are ever going use it there'
From the results so far, I'd say the minimum people expect is WindowBlinds, CursorXP, IconPackager and Wallpaper. This makes a lot of sense to me. All the extras would be better placed as free downloads or very cheap optional extras when purchasing. It's all very well spending a couple of weeks extra making a Trillian skin, for example, but if only 1 in 4 of the people who buy the suite are ever going use it there's little point in making it a part of the suite.
This guy really needs a wet trout to the face. >
It wouldn't make sense to release the free version without certain standard WindowBlinds features aufisch, because I'd still need to put those features together for the commercial version. Also I'd prefer that the free version were a complete skin in its own right, as I don't agree with actually crippling a skin to generate sales. My intention isn't to offer less than the norm for free, but to offer much more than the norm for a small fee. As for Nuryan's suggestion that someone would b
Personally, I'd just be happy with WindowBlinds and a matching wallpaper. I very rarely feel the need to have matching icons, as I prefer them to be easy to identify more than anything, so a whole set of icons in the same colours don't really work for me. I'd perhaps also add ObjectBar for the non-XP folk, and maybe some cursors if there's time.
Oh, and PayPal would get the boot in favour of an online shareware retail provider. I'm investigating a few as I type.
After the discussions about the pros and cons of voluntary donations (https://www.wincustomize.com/msgboard.asp?BID=WC&id=167122) and about the growing trend of skin sales (https://www.wincustomize.com/msgboard.asp?BID=WC&id=167514), I've decided to take a slightly different approach. This isn't yet set in stone, but here's what I propose: 1. Make skins available for free download with a single sub-style, incorporating the basic features of the skin. This allows people to test the skin
Where's our little flower, and why isn't she around to keep me in line?
Don't mock the aflicted Jafo. At least, not while he's looking.
Re-read your original post and the title of this thread kona. How could you possibly say you didn't intend it to turn into a Microsoft-bashing exercise?
Have a very happy birthday Mr Horizon.
Funny but the truth is open source is another group of human beings that make mistakes too. You don't say? It's amazing the things you can learn by just reading through this message board...
Microsoft are human. I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. They make mistakes. At least when they're made aware of their mistakes they work to fix them. Apple are human. Well Fuzzy, I'd have to give an answer which sits in between the two you've given to choose from. I skin for pleasure and to improve my graphic skills, but increasingly find it an expensive hobby to maintain as an unemployed person. I therefore look for ways to support my hobby through the generation of a small amount of income. I don't skin purely for business or for pleasure, but somewhere in between.
On a similar subject, it wasn't too long ago that people were criticized for charging for web design services. In its infancy, the web was seen as a hobbyist activity and any suggestion that money could be made through its use was seen as almost blasphemy. These days there are still those who think everything on the web should be free and that it should be one big open-source activity. The web is now big business though, and there are those companies who sell web designs in almost the s
