OD+ v1.9 does NOT need SDMCP, but ObjectBar and DesktopX DO. Turn it off (with SDC) if OD+ is the only app that you want tray icons for.
Remember, the functionality I (thought) I paid for was to tab enable the normal dock. If you just blindly accept that the tabbed dock holds no interest for me, that lack of feature makes it a pointless product to me. I think you're overstating it a bit. when I follow the instructions it asked me if I want to replace the existing Docklets file do I want that to happen? Not sure what you mean by 'docklets file', but in general it's safe to replace all the old files when installing the new (2.5.11) version of SysStats. It won't make any difference to the system tray - OD just displays what if finds according to the Windows one. If you open task manager, do you have a process called SDMCP.EXE running? How is your Dock Settings->Dock Contents dialog configured?
I hope your using version 1.9 If not then you should upgrade. If you just installed then I suggest a reboot and see if the icons show up. And then make sure that both the "Enable MCP..." options in SDC are turned off - unless you have other apps that need them eg ObjectBar, DesktopX (?)...
Just wondering if it's at all possible to incorporate toolbars that have an edit field and that normally live in the Windows taskbar eg like 'Address', 'Google Search' and (my particular desire) 'Windows Search Deskbar' into ObjectDock somehow? Maybe there's a docklet wrapper of some kind that someone knows about? Alternatively, if it's possible to do it with RightClick, that would also be good!
and is it still possible to have everything in one nice dock with nice jumping icon effects and without having ugly tabs? You'd have to use 2 docks, eg one with Shortcuts+Tasks & 1 with SysTray (or some other combination) and place them close together to appear as one. Might be tricky to get a nice alignment if you're using zooming effects etc. It's not necessary to have tabbed docks to display tasks or tray. FWIW I have OD 1.9+ and have 4 dock
Have you tried: Rightclick on the dock -> Add -> New "Weather" Docklet ?

However all the crazy effects found in a normal dock are not there. Which is good! . The subtle zoom is enough... but please if it is implemented make sure to make it possible to be disabled!

For v1.9 of OD +, I do not have SDMCP running, nor either of the MCP options checked in SDC. For the most part it is working fine with the following exceptions: Multiple copies of the netwrok adapter icon (this has been there forever & doesn't really worry me) and a new one: the Microsoft Defender icon only appears if I manually turn it off then on again in the MSD config. Yepp, I know. This is what I'm talking about. If you have OD+ you don't need a tray docklet ... The typical way to do it is to create a new (zoomer) dock and select the option to display tray items in that dock. I am also in Australia (Sydney as it happens) and it won't work for me either - nor will any overseas location work (eg New York, New York etc). After doing some TCP/IP packet sniffing during updating of the weather docklet so far all I've found is that the HTTP (and some TCP) requests from my PC are being marked with bad checksums in the TCP portion of the packet. There seems to be no reply from the weather server so I'm guessing the requests are being ignored because of the checksum e
I found out (the hard way) that hook.dll is NOT part of ObjectDock - it's part of the SysStats docklet support. You'll need to re-install SysStats or just copy the hook.dll file from the SysStats archive (latest version here: SysStats ) to the ObjectDock install folder like I did. Alternatively, it may be possible to unregister the dll with the command "regsvr32 -u hook.dll" at a cmd prompt? I didn't try it because it just oc
MySecret: yeah I should be adding more user-notification on the Tray side of it too. The tray module also checks file integrity before it can operate. Currently, failing silently if those checks fail. So if a file has a single byte messed up by the download, it won't work. Since I've definitely heard of people having install problems before, this could be the case. Leading me to think so based on that both of these modules appear to be silently not working. In the next
