Been gone for a week. Just downloaded the latest revision through SDC. Started a new game. Huge Map, Tight Clusters. I have been getting blank events i.e, description missing and am unable to upgrade starbases. When i send a constructor to a starbase, the list of available upgrades is blank. ~SDC~

Just upgraded to SDC 0.99e RC6. I can now see only 2 threads in the GC Strategies Forum thru SDC. I can still see all of them thru the WEB. ~SDC~
To Experts and Expert wannabes - What is your usual game settings ? How much is your average Taxation Rate %? How much is your average tax income in BCs? How much is your average trade income in BCs? This will give people like me some figures to compare against as the game progresses and try some tweaks to improve the economy.
Usually my taxation rate is pretty low, to keep my morale up. Most of my income comes from trade. It usually ends at 200-300% of my tax income. ~SDC~
I wish i could create extra people housing modules and cart off a portion of my population to my starbases or any allied starbases for that matter like B5. ~SDC~
This thread has become so long, it is difficult to figure out what the bugs are and have they been reported earlier. I hope one of moderators will put an uneditable sticky with a consolidated list of reported bugs so that people can read it to see if their bug has already been reported before posting to this thread. ~SDC~
Yup saw the same thing. Its not just the human player though. The A.I. seems to have these too. I just had one of these attack my planet, and scare the hell out of me. The darned A.I. had one sitting on my trade route. My convoy did not see a thing, till they were fired on. It seems to have that blue ring(uncloaks ?) just before it fires, and then nothing. It started happening after i researched cloaking. No picture appears when selecting to build or when trying to view ships orbiting t
Jae Kaenash, I really like your idea of followup events. Like cohesive subplots within the plot. I do not know how difficult it would be to implement it, but would definitely enhance the game even more. ~SDC~
Updated to New 1.01a. First game, had my second ingame CTD. Here is the Snippet from Debug.Err. Debug Message: Preparing to save game. Debug Message: Deleting previous save game. Heys guys, i understand everyone's concerns about updating to metaverse (incidentally i have not managed it so far), but aren't we missing an important point. Beginning of the thread, brad mentioned a new galciv update with some tweaks. There has been no questions about the tweaks(what they are?) by anyone in this thread or an elaboration on it by brad. I for one would very much like to know what those tweaks are? Brad pls elaborate. the suspense is just killing me ;
I am wondering the same thing. I know brad's put out a new exe with tweaks, but no info on the tweaks itself. Biggy Boy - Trade goods are exclusively property. Meaning when you get it from another empire, you get rights to produce them within your empire and enjoy its benifits. Selling rights rests exclusively with the civ that originally researched it.
Thanks guys. Those transports have been my bane. I guess keeping defenders in orbit and not adjacent to the planet is the key. Now if can only find a way to deal with those altarins who are too sneaky and smart for their own good, i will be well on my way. Last game they stacked corvettes with their freighters, and when i let my guard down, took out my drones, and as if my arrangement, attacked me along with the arceans from a completely different direction then what i expecte
What are the best ways to defend a planet.? Ships with higher defense like defenders, battleaxes, battlehammers etc. Are they better of in a planets orbit or adjacent to it.? I moved up A.I. intelligence to normal(eh, i was playing beginner a couple of games, just to get my feet, er mouse, wet, mind you ;) ) to see how long i would last and I am just getting creamed. :sniff!: On a side note. Racial traits wise; my impression so far is that - the altarians always
I have played the game 26 hrs, in the last 2 days(i had to squeeeze in an eight hr day work schedule ;) ) and just had my first and only CTD so far. Here's the scenario. Middle of game, went to the domestic policy screen. I was populist party. Clicked on war party and then clicked on details, just to see what it said. Clicked on done and it CTDed.
I think the problem - Item not being removed from build queue of other civs, if one completes it - is true for all unique items trade goods and wonders. ~SDC~
Minor Issues 1) Same problem as javacodetoad. String not found error for 3 different U.P. Issues. Incidentally all those had negative impacts for me. 2) I read about this one a while ago during beta and someone said it was fixed, but i still see it. If i secure a deal with a minor civ to pay or receive payment of x amount for y months my expenditure figure shows whacky 8 digit values. It seems to last while the deal is in effect and reverts back to normal after that. 3) Like Wyd
I have to agree with sanska. Even if there is no alignment shift, there must atleast be enough of a morale hit empire wide to feel the pinch.
Oh my god!!! Here i was bemoaning my addiction to computer games at the ripe old age of 33. You guys definitely reiterate the point "you are only as old as you think". I did say "think" not feel. ;) Like elrikk said nobody could be that olddddddddd. ~SDC~
Here are the first 4 http://www.galciv.com/play.html. Enjoy :)
@Ardrikk - thanks. that does make sense. I have been on the forum pretty much the whole day, counting hours, and my brains are a bit more befuddled then usual. :D ~SDC~
So, what you guys are saying is - the human player loses, if and only if the player loses all his/her planets. The point is, in the game example, it should probably have come up saying brad lost the game, once the other 3 major races were eliminated, as only the drengin satisfied a victory condition at that point(alliance victory). Please dont get me wrong, i am not being argumentative here. It is just that, knowing the A.I. would not be merely reactive, but actively pursue a s
Oops! Should have posted the link through SDC. ;) Live and learn ~SDC~
here it is http://storage.stardock.com/files/stardockcentral098.exe
Like someone else asked, why did the drengin not win an alliance victory?. I thought the A.I. is capable of going after different strategies like a human player, as well, such as cultural domination, and satisfy those victory conditions. Just curious. ~SDC~
I totally agree with tytan on his points. Afterall forums are for clarifications, expressing opinions and discussions. A forum where one can express opinions that are not entirely positive and discuss sensitive topics without getting their head chewed off, is in general, greatly appreciated. One can defend by clarifying and not merely being argumentative.
