The spelling errors and overall quality of the English makes me wonder how the author got through christian schooling methods. I wonder if they have a article that explains why its ok to use such pagan magic as the internet and satan's magic computer boxes that require witchcraft electricity.

i would absolutely love a diplomacy option where you can warn the in very concrete ways.(and which the ai could use too ofc) Something like: if you do X to Y in Z turns, i will do this or that. examples: If you colonize planets in my influence, i will declare war. If you colonize planet betelgeuse 1 within the next 5 turns, i will badmouth you to the other leaders. If you declare war on x, i will attack all your ships in x&

Can you "hide" components? for example if you make a neat looking ship, but you still need to add that one component but you can't find anywhere to fit it without messing up the looks of your ship. Or if you import a new ship model, where would you leave all the functional components? Will there be things like player icons/banners/logos you can put on ships? Like some "your logo here" paint job in the designer, and then when at the start of the game you can pick a i

yes it will come back, check the schedule sticky. But according to that we should get another alpha patch before that happens, so i'm guessing you will have at least to mid-late may to get the elite founders package. at any rate i would expect a announcement from the devs at least a week in advance when it's ending. So people can get their starnames in and stuff.

Where did you read it ends on the 30th? You can get in the beta for presumably 40 dollars when elite founders ends (this was the price before). And uhm... if you have to forgo paying rent in order to buy video games, you might want to stick to humble bundles and/or reprioritise.

I haven't found a political party tab anywhere in the game so far, so perhaps things like technocracy could be implemented as ideology instead.

Doesn't the casimir effect merely create a negative energy density compared to it's surroundings? which is explained with zero point energy / virtual particles? I do wonder if it's ever going to be possible to find out if singularities really do have infinite densities, or are merely approaching infinity/there is some funky unknown business going on. Just about everything else in nature is quantized or has limits in some way, it always struck me as weird tha

[quote who="joeball123" reply="28" id="3459245"] Directional accuracy in pointing the weapon is a very significant issue when dealing with extreme-range engagements. Even if we assume a perfect prediction algorithm, very minor errors in the aiming direction of a weapon can result in missing the target by a significant amount, particularly if the engagement range is some number of light-seconds. If we do not assume a perfect predictive algorithm (which is much more reasonable than assumin

wireless power transfer has a whole slew of problems with it, if its a omnidirectional power field its power will drop off with the cube of the distance. at which point your better off using that power for a big canon. If its a directed/beam power transfer, the fighter cant be more then a few lightseconds from the carrier before the beam not hitting the craft becomes a serious problem because the carrier cant predict where the craft is going to go (and if the carrier controls the craft, that

boarding a starbase with troops would require some special type of transport that could bypass the starbase weapons. Or a way to disable/destroy the starbase weapons but not the entire starbase. Ofc once this system is in, there is no reason to limit it to starbases, why not make regular ships boardable in a similar fashion? Which then would be abit much imo. This would also make influence starbases or range extending starbases in enemy culture alot harder to pull off.<

isn't the way that birth rates are explained that your population is simply the amount of people on the planet following your government? Basically a planet has much more population then "your" population. So when you invade, you simply remove people following the enemies government (and probably a good chunk of neutral population)., but not the entire population. Also propaganda warfware was the galciv2 way to "spare" your enemy, its likely there will be at least o

don;t have much time right now, but yes it would be a hard setting. basically, anything a fighter does, a missile can do better. another example is that a missile doesn't need to make a 2 way trip, which means that if it has the same mass/fuel as a figher, it can use 4x more fuel on range/evasive maneuvers then a fighter can, who would need that fuel to return to the carrier.

let's bribe the enemies to "fake" fight! that way you win and they make it look good, that's way more realistic. you can use your diplomacy/trade skill to negotiate how much % of the fee you pay up front and how much you sent to their family afterwards/keep for yourself, based of your benevolent/malevolence rating. Maybe your cultural influence can make it easier to convince them to put up a good show too, so you can spread the movie of the battle as propaganda. <p

I think the main argument that was used was something along the lines of "it would require a bunch of infrastructure on our end" Not entirely sure what they meant with that, my initial thought was that they would have to host some sort of servers for it, but surely steam or even users themselves could do that. And it would be a negligible cost compared to the regular multiplayer servers. I suppose they meant coding infrastructure/dev time or somet

I once read a great article about how strike craft in space are a stupid idea. They are only used in scifi for the coolness factor, and cool they are (same for alot of things really) It pointed out things such as: -fighters can only be mobile/do dogfights in a atmosphere, such sudden movements in space require the entire engine output to be able to be directed in every possible direction and even then you don't simply change your momentum in a few seconds.&n

I think they have been called "Stellar Rifts" by devs. Some events in galciv2 featured rifts that caused weird shit to happen, like birth rate changes. So i imagine if it is something that spreads out untill you "counter" it, it might be something that is related to events. for example a rift appears that causes effects that are either positive or negative or both for everybody within in influence. This way you might want to keep a certain rift if it influences your pla
