Anyone ever build 16 starbases with the +movement modules next to eachother? Gives ships +32 to movement, thats your jumpdrive right there :P like this: The guy wrote some explanation too
I have been thinking about it and I am more against this idea than I was before. It strikes me that GalCiv 2 effectively makes the concept of vast interstellar an actual game mechanism that affects decisions. It is a part of what makes GalCiv a successful game tor me. Distance matters.
i can agree with that, which is why i'd rather have a way for faster, not instantaneous, travel, if you

The only limit i would put on it is a charge up time and/or a few turns of immobility upon arrival. This makes sneak attacks or retreats more of a risk. All other things balance themselves out like everything else: - it is a ship component, presumably of engine weight, so putting it on a ship means sacrificing regular engines or weapons/defenses. - it cant jump ships out of their range, so you can't jump extremely deep into enemy territory. &

When can we expect a "official" announcement of this game? How long will the Founder offer be available? Will there be a Elite Founders edition that includes all DLC and/or other perks?

Yes, it is. It's damn near impossible, not to mention a bad idea, to police what people do in their own homes. Once good 3d printers become viable for consumers, a whole new world is going to open up. And with the internet around it's not like you censor designs either. Not that i see a problem with people wanting to print guns, even in a onetime use design some parts will still have to be metal, and if you have bad intentions you can get a weapon by other means. And we're still a
er level that isn't so sadistically hard for someone new to the mechanics. Losing is the world's best motivator :3
Understanding why you loose is the best motivator.

That was a nice read. I assume you don't publish any financial reports seeing you are a private company? On the topic on consoles, with 8 games in development at the same time, i would be very surprised if they were all pc exclusives.
Do you have a source? I haven't heard of anything like this.
I believe in one of the devstreams Paul was talking about the planet adjacency system and then at some point said something along the lines of "and when the colony adjacency system is in, things will go nuts". But i may have misheard of misinterpreted.

hmm lets see what i can come up with from the top of my head. -vastly improved ship designer -hexes -combat expanded, things like range accuracy speed etc now factor in. -multiplayer -steam workshop (not 100% confirmed but makes alot of sense) -it looks alot prettier -political party system overhauled, not sure to what yet -carrier ships added -fleet mechanics added, i.e. escort ships at leas

i want a special extra category of events called "lively galaxy". If you check that box, the chance of events like planet explodes into asteroids, or star explodes to black hole, or new minor race appears, nebula collapses into a new star, etc, would be very high (like 1 such event per x stars in the galaxy per 20-30 turns). basically the idea being that the galaxy in changing alot. could maybe be a dlc. I am also still a fan of mega e

This is one of those situations where i really want a "partial war declaration" sort of thing, as in, i will attack your ships that breach my borders, but i will not attack you outside my borders sort of thing. Or some other similar option between full out war and not really being able to do anything. This would be great combined with open/closed border treaties, where ships do not enter a closed border on automated orders, but if you order then to enter a border they will (with some

i use http://wwp.centraleuropeantime.com/ most of the time, i find it simpler to use then converting sites. A planet based shipyard can only be disabled by spies or taking over the planet, how does defense of a space based shipyard work? Will rushing to destoy a opponents starport early be possible? will starports be upgradable in any way? is relocating

Can you talk abit about map features besides nebulae and dust clouds we can expect, such as black holes and stellar rifts, and what kind of gameplay effects these will have? Will it be possible for these features to change or grow during the game, for example a mega event where you have to stop a black from growing and eventually covering the entire map. What is the team size on galciv3, and has this changed or will this change?

2) really? that's coming? god yes please. 3) they could make this a unique and super cool race flavor thing. The trade race could build 2-way warp gates(with faster travel time then regular but not instant), dregnin could use a one directional slingshot that let's em get close to enemies but no way back. A technological race could build a instant teleporter that takes a few turns to charge up the movement, etc. Altho the movabl

You should watch the third devstream for some basic pointers on the ship designer as it currently is, but note that this thing will be completely overhauled in the next build we get, presumably in the next 2-4 weeks. The hyperdrive doubling would be symmetry in action. Attachment points are being re-done. You need to research planetary invasion or w/e its called atm and then build transports or design a ship with a troop transport module on it. These transports

Unless i am doing it wrong, there seem to be about 2400 founder star names so far. (so much for "we are not expecting to get 1000 founders.") Of course stardock will be adding star names of their own, my galciv2 star file has about 1500 star names in it. No doubt there will be some overlap but probably not to much. So using these numbers and assuming all the star names are just thrown in one big list, in your average game you should get a little over 60% Player

In your idea would there be any active gameplay elements tied to the scout ship when setting up a mission on a planet or ship? Would it be cloaked by default? Would it have to avoid detection? How would you do this? How would countermeasures against such a ship work? Relying on superior sensor range is really not going to work. Basically how would you make this meaningfully different then just a visual version of "setting up surveillance it will take 3 turns".
Ok, that is fine. But destroying the planet seems an easy win for a human player. Just rush in with your armada and set your little Doctors to unzip and viola no more planets! Seems too easy for this kind of game. I am just saying balance this out against a human player abusing it.
It's typically balanced by being a very late game tech (i.e. you are already winning or its

i feel a urge to post a picture of Fluffy, destroyer of worlds. What is so much worse about actually destroying a planet vs all of the standard planetary invasion options such as planetary bombardment/core detonation that cause the planet quality to drop? Nobody gives 2 shits about you nuking a planet from 20 to 2 quality, which lets be honest is practically the same. Why should you get a massive penalty for the one but the other is just business a

should make it community driven. Let everybody design their own "look" for their civ, then share em by steamcloud. That way you can get a unique/different view of each planet/civilization instead of a few dozen pre-canned ones. In addition people like to show off, goes well with ship design for people who want to make their truly own civ. not entirely sure what it could add besides eye candy tho. which for a feature of this size is kinda important or else it's never
