Personally i am more worried whether they are going to reach their goal of feature complete or close to it by the time beta comes around. Seeing the size of the previous content patches compared to the feature list on the store page, that's a lot of stuff they still got to get in. 4 races black holes, possibly galactic resources 4 victory conditions fleet design (distinctly mentioned as different from ship design) combat (techni
They will be features on the map. Likely they will have names and designations like MC48b or Corellian vortex. Their effects as yet are not know in Alpha. They could do anything.
In one of the dev streams Paul offhandedly mentioned that black holes are places were "you just can't go there, you have to go around them." So i'm assuming they are just unpassable terrain, but hoping for a bit more then
You should add making of Federations to the list. Was a interesting idea from Stardrive. Basically a stronger bond between civs then a alliance, where you get control of the other civ. This way you can get full control of a other civ by either a surrender or a federation, and you can get partial control of a civ by either by making then a vassal or making a alliance.

You need a user account to post here. sorry couldn't resist. there is diminishing returns for planets that send production to shipyards more then 7 hexes away. This is the only repercussion i know off. Presumably a star faring civilization has over come the economic problems of sending stuff into space. "Extreme settings" as you call them aren't in the game, you cannot set a planet into a self harming state, other then starvation but that i
This voting system is depressing. The rpg bundle lost, Age of Wonders III for $20 lost, and now this 4x bundle will probably lose as well.
Don't worry i'm sure age of wonders will be on a flash sale or daily at some point.
Zefrank1 : This guy has some of the most amazing funny and feelgood movies i've ever seen. Cannot recommend this guy enough. AweMe : Blacksmith who makes weapons from games, movies, anime, etc. BroScienceLife : Dude who makes parody videos about weightlifting. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/PikaPok

The Skyrim sale is funny, you're kinda screwed if you only need 1 DLC. Guess dragonborn has to wait. Wonder why they didn't make the DLCs 75% off :S Everytime i see age of empires 2 HD on sale i am tempted by it, but i have yet to do so.
wait, first you wanted to merely make the planet uninhabitable by destroying the surface and burning off the atmosphere, now you want to liquefy the entire thing? big difference in how determined you are there man. Liquefaction seems a interesting concept, as it would require close to the amount of energy needed to blow up the planet, but delivered over a much longer period of time. Is it even possible to liquefy the solid core of a planet without destroying the t

Fog of war really is a case of gameplay over lore in my opinion.
8). The idea that we forget about where an enemy ship was as soon as it enters a portion of space we don't have eyes on is silly. Knowing where an enemy has been and which direction he/she was traveling should be available on the main map, at least as an option when in tactical view mode.
How do you imagine this in prac
being able to see planets, and especially what class and type they are, should not be available early without sacrificing something else. Exploration is important, having stars visible as a guideline so your not going in completely blind is good, but having some unknowns makes it more exciting when you find a good planet. If you want the advantage of seeing where all the good planets are, it should come at the cost of a few other technologies that you could have done in the meantime t
There is a few problems with your solution: -limiting the number of ships per turn punishes you for using a lot of small ships compared to a few big ships. -having gates only work manually, with confirmation, and only 1 ships at a time is a lot of micromanagement that gets old fast. Especially if you have to do it 20 turns in a row to get to the other side of the map. I personally think ships should use gates in their standard pathfinding. Manually
Shadowy shapes like this? :D
I like a lot of the ideas here about making stars and planets visible in more stages and/or tied to distance away. Hope they do something with it.
This game is abstracted, you start of with a planet similar to how earth is now: it has population, infrastructure, etc already in place, even on uncolonized or recently nuked planets this is the case. (this is the way birth rates are rationalized) When you build a factory you are simply saying: you guys in this region are going to focus the part of your production that the government takes to producing stuff for the government rather then private business. <
they can just make the cost increase scale with the map size or w/e. It's just a numbers game, set a amount of ideology choices you want a player to make during a normal game, and then magic the numbers around until you get that. As long as they don't balance the game around "medium map size, default settings" like some games do, it should be fine, especially since we can expect balance patches anyways. with abit of luck there will be a "amount of ideology event
From a game-play perspective, I don't like stargates or jumpdrives because they remove the need for a balanced military presence and increase the incentive for maintaining just a few super-powerful fleets.
This is easily balanced by making the travel take some time, either in the form of: -instant travel but your ships need to be inactive at the start and/or end of the travel, leavi
There are going to be more extensive tech descriptions that you will get when a tech completes, and pop-ups for it are pretty common in this genre. Whether they are going to have the same tone/style is another question. They seem to be big on more functional descriptions and less techno babble, which is good and all, but i hope they will still sneak a few jokes in.
wonder if the engine can support other map shapes then hexagonal, specifically long but narrow rectangles, for this idea to work better.
is there any way to get a email or some other alert when the founders vault is updated?
