GalCiv III hex system of movement is really lacking realism - Almost all other TB games use the more popular 8 sided 'compass' movement/logistical system. I mean...we drive/walk/fly/sleep using that 'natural' directional system and it is soooo easily 'coded'. [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e]
Last i used a compas it had 360 degrees, not 8 sides. Would love a example of this compas system s

Most DLC will probably be stuff that directly enhances the game like planet/star types/textures, ship parts, more event types, more nebula/asteroid types, new factions, etc. So those will all be compatible. With the scenario dlc, like the snathi, it depends on how they do it. They could just make it a custom map, that is the same each time you play it, which has the benefit of easier scripting events/encounters (which i presume is how they will do the campaign). Or they
they don't do anything (yet). Was some talk about it on this weeks podcast iirc.
F12 is the standard steam key i believe.
maybe (hopefully) its like that because either those values can be affected by certain things like resources, or because both the amount of weapons and the damage each one will do will be important later on when combat gets more fleshed out.
Those GC2 masses are extremely low indeed :( Densities come out at like a factor 100 lower then the modern day tank. Heck, most of those ships would be lighter then air. Makes me feel like i mathed wrong somehow :S
a 170 meter ship is much more realistic then a 1600 meter ship. Volume/mass of a ship increases by a power of 3 if you increase length/width by a power of 2. so larger ships quickly become to massive to be practical. A 1600m ship would be 10x as large as a 170m ship, but 1000x as massive. 35000 tons for a 15 meter ship seems abit much, but the density of a 15meter cube at 35000 tons would be about 10 tons/m^3. The density of iron is a little
So what is the problem?
I really want planet class and any bonusses the planet gets to show up during colonization events, any chance of that happening? Or a view planet (even on stragetic map) before colonizing button would be even better. Sometimes i forget about colony ships or several arrive at once and have no clue what i am colonizing :D
there is 2x beacon in benevolence too, i'm sure there are more double used things.
It is free for me from the "quick build -> buy" menu It cost money for me if i click the "money with up arrow" icon next to the "now building" progress bar. (there is also a typo in the quick build -> buy tooltip. it says income instead of credits)
This annoys me too :( especially on shipyards, can't stop making ships unless i remove all sponsors. And on planets, have to change production to either 0 or move all of it to military, and the having to remember to switch it back when a upgrade to improvements is available. wish there would be a "this empty queue is okay" or "remind me later" button or something.
It's free for me too.
Just a PSA. seems it just went live. restart steam if it doesn't show up.
All Elite Founders (the $99 package that isn't available anymore) get that. Regular Founders ($45) get beta access and a discount on retail price.

I always had a thing for Homeworld ship designs, loved the kadeshi in particular(spelling?, the dudes in the nebula). But a lot of the homeworld 2 designs are great too with all the visible launch tubes and movable turrets and what not. Halo has some neat designs too, particular like precursor designs in there. Used to like protoss designs too but not so much anymore.
What about six, same number as carbon, would that be a sweet spot of stability? (come on all you intellectuals out there I'm to lazy to google it!) The one thing Vassal states are not tho, is sovereign :P but ye vassals are cool.
Galciv is the true spiritual successor to MOO2
Why? Just about every space 4x from the last couple of years has claimed MOO2 as inspiration.
It would probably just cause problems. It can work in theory beacuse the "coding" part of DNA is just really 1 of the strands, the second strand is just there to make copying and error preventing etc easier. But adding more moving parts just makes errors that much more likely. It would be more intersting to have more base pairs then to have more helixes. Having more then 1 coding strand would cause problems because bot
Speaking of starnames, will the ability to submit or edit starnames be removed when the alpha ends? Or will this be a later yet to be announced date?
You have 100 friends who you can convince to spend 100 bucks on something they dont want/know what it its? You should go into marketing. Sadly 10k prolly not enough to hire him tho.
While i do like the technology quotes that Civ 4/5 use, it's something you listen to a handfull of times and then skip. So i'd rather they use the hypothetical funds for voice acting for hypothetical gameplay features instead.
