I wouldn't mind if they held a contest to let a few non founder names in. But other then that, its a perk people pay for, so it's not gonna go over very well i imagine if they put non founder names in en masse just like that :P.
And only because a company spent LOTS of money on a games it can still be really bad. Look at EA: BF 4 was a really BAD game and they have spent millions on it. EA is still is the worst game company in the business... Diablo 3: Bad game, Blizzard is making billions every month and they could not even make a proper GCI ending in the expansion of Diablo 3. Even the expansion is bad. Starcraft 2: Yeah they have m

[e digicons][/e]
What is simple about implementing a completely new mechanic that affects both combat and movement on the strategic map.
Will there be an anomaly than spans time rather than space, where any ship or a fleet of ships would come across it, disappear, and show up again in a later turn?
Or more importantly, will the super epic ultra alpha omega battle ship destroyer cruiser of ultimate victory that i build at the end of the game appear on turn one because said ship ran into a wormhole when i build it late game?

Question this week: Last time you mentioned the press build. I am curious to whom you sent press keys? Big sites like IGN? Youtubers? Blog sites? How do you decide who gets one and who doesn't? It just based on size of audience or target audience of the journalist? What kind of number so you sent out, dozens, hundreds?

I think stealth should work in once of two ways: 1) stealth modules stack like other defensive modules and weight about the same, and they work by reducing the chance to get hit vs same tier weapons. They give more chance to avoid damage vs lower tech weapons, and less to avoid vs higher tier weapons. Stacking them increaes the chance, but with diminishing returns so there is a cap at some max % dodge chance. 'Problem with this is that ships with stealth can be dete

With talk of the beta all around, I imagine the Elite Founders Program will be ending fairly soon, i guess in 6ish weeks orso. After the beta starts we will no doubt get a pretty large flood of new people who will ask many a question, so i figured this would be a good time talk a bit about the program. Maybe still a bit early. Most of all i would love to hear something from Stardock about how they have experienced the program, what their expectations were going into it
On the production of antimatter being mined from black holes: Antimatter is basically particles of matter that happen to have an opposite electric charge from common particles. They become fuel when particles and antiparticles annihilate each other, with that process then being able to be contained and harnessed if happening in a large enough scale. This is different from the manner that conventional matter with high energy value exis

It will look great when your camera follows a small or medium ship, but when you zoom out to a bigger ship, it just becomes the big ship in a empty void with the ocasional explosion and some dots of fighter exhaust. To solve this most games scale up the small ships when you zoom out, this is what i hope they will do in galciv3 combat viewer instead of having the small ships always be large. Tho i will agree i wouldn't mind a option to toggle the scaling on/off. Go p

1) having overpowered tech in 1 area (say ships or factories), doesn't mean you can also effectivily deploy them or make enough of them, you may be invincible but it may still take you 100 turns to win. 2) Having overpowered tech in all areas either means that you should play against a stronger AI, or that the AI should just use your tactic in the future since its clearly the only way to play. 3) Even if you have a 30% research bonus compared
For one all known galaxies live on a plane. Although that plane is skewed one direction or the other, they are on the plane.
Galaxies are only a plane on distances in the order of 10k+ lightyears. The plane of the milky way is still 1000 lightyears thick, so unless traveling 1000+ light years is easy for you (which it is not for any galciv level civ), it really is by no means a plane. The problem with ships having realistic proportions relative to each other, is that fighters and corvettes become less then specks when you are viewing a capital ship. The star swarm demo thing shows this pretty well. So i think fighters will always be pretty large compared to bigger ships just for ease of viewing.
An example of innovation that I like very much is adjacency bonuses. That's a great idea that adds to the gameplay. A bad idea, would have been 3D maps or tactical battles. That's too far away from core GC.
You only say that because the adjacency is done right. If it was even a bit more detailed or complex, it would become a chore and people would complain about it. Similarl

They should at least put back in ship lenght/witdh/height in the designer imo. Other then that, you can always make the standard battleship a part, and import it to your current build and look at them side by side. But 3D kinda messes with your perspective then.

In my experience programs you download of random websites that claim they will make your computer x% faster / clean your computer / boost performance / optimize your autorun / that sort of stuff, are at best useless and at worst ransomware. So unless you got that program from a reliable/verified company, i would start there.

Question: How do you think about removing (or postponing till expansion) of features from the prequel, instead of fine tuning them or otherwise changing them to make them fun? Is this de-innovation of the series? For example systems like espionage and terror stars are not slated to be in the base game, while i don't think anybody would argue that those couldn't be made into cool systems. In the past you have said that this is mostly due to time/budget constraints, but could you talk a
