OK, Brad, works for me. (I bought Drengin). Patches installed well, loaded a saved game and it works well.

Strange, I never saw this problem. Puzzles me, then.
When your empire changes to evil, it really looks like you're in hell. Even the music changes, to complete the fest with the new red icon and borders. ;)
Report it in the Bug Report Thread, this is a "sticky" one, and is always visible in the top sector of the forum. Just a friendly advice :)
"As of right now any saved games I try to load are crashing GalCiv after 100% is loaded.". Do you mean you had no problems before? With the same release version?
Apparently you are NOT a member of an empire. Which one did you try to join? Some are open, some are on invitation only.Mine is open, for instance.
Hey, Fist, do you mean Ugly Orange or Ugly Ball? I'm from Holland and our National color is Orange ;) :) :D LOL
ucla_vince: happy it worked, since we are in the same empire I wouldn't want to miss your scores to keep us ahead of the rest. :)
Doo-doo, IF you like TB strategy games, then you MUST buy this one. You will NOT find a better 4X game anywhere else. This forum has many threads about praising the devs. I would say 99,5% of the buyers is extremely happy about the game and 100% of the buyers is completely shocked by the devotion of the devs in supporting the game. 1.02 version just released, that's within THREE WEEKS after the release we have seen several patches to make the game even better. An expansion pack is expected to be
Customs tax applies to all software delivered to you, including outside of the EU deliveries. Sometimes you get lucky, because it slips through. I have solved this problem by ordering it as a download (which is still tax free in Europe) and then let SD ship me the CD for US$ 10 shipping costs. The bill states the value is zero, so nothing can be taxed. ;)
Nope, Alltus, the expansion pack will be free. So stick to your last line. Galciv has the best AI ever, and that's what the devs wanted, resulting in NO MP. I think 99 % of the buyers are very happy with that.
You can set government spending to zero, than it quickly recovers out of debt, at least below -500BC, then you can set the government spending back to whatever you want to spend them.
Yes, the saved games work fine with me after the install of the new patch.
Ok, Thanks, Cari, I just couldn't make the link with the post of Brad and your thread, because yours looks alot older in days than Brad's post.
This community is by far the strongest and niced I have ever seen, so you guys certainly will not mind me asking you a stupid question: " On Monday we're going to put up the beta of the Ship build tool along with some docs to help get you started. ". WHERE can I find the download?
Yes, Ronald, it's embarassing for all who live in the same country, but I'm afraid you're right. Well, I think at least he shows some intelligence trying to get a key here after edonkeying it from the net ;) Whatever he thinks that may add to the pirated version. LOL
" Go buy the game... Jees how hard can it be.. " :D :D :D LOL LOL LOL
In StarDockCentral: Tools>>>Settings>>>>General>>>>Show pre-release versions should be activated. You might also need to Refresh Application Data (under Tools). .042 is the latest version.
"did you register for the metaverse? (separate registration = from just posting on the forum)" IF NOT: click on the metaverse tab and then on "Register your player to include your scores in the Galactic Metaverse!".
It is a matter of opinion how you look at random events. Most people here love it, but some don't. The last have requested to being able to disable the random events. Brad implemented in the latest patch (.042)the occurence of the "nasty" events at lower AI settings (like beginner)are reduced. Specially in the early parts of the game. Since you played for 15 hours, you were far past the early part of the game, so it might happen to you than. See #7 on how to abandon a planet, or build a colony s
The random part is already possible. If the races could not be customized you would have a point, but since you can change them alot, the only thing that would change with more races would be you could play against more empires. Perhaps in hugh or gigantic maps this could be interesting, but I have my hands full already in every game I play(ed) trying to win from 5 opponents.
See # 3. What level had you set the AI to? Fool, beginner etc. Random events can either hurt you or benefit you. But indeed, when this occurs, you get a warning, and that's something you have to act upon on one way or the other.
What soundcard do you have? Did you try tp play the game with sound disabled? Do you have the latest drivers installed for your system video and audio? Do you have the latest directx installed? Just some suggestions. Some people have problems running the game with Soundblaster family cards.
Hellpig, can you install the game on another computer? Just to see if your copy is OK?
"But for some reason (random event?)". Without any additional info on this part of your complaint nobody here can say something appropriate to your complaint. It could be due to a random event (well, that's life than :) ), it could be caused by another empire with stabases in your neighbourhood and a lot of cultural influence. And some other reasons. And finally, it could be a bug. So can you explain what has caused this more in detail?
