StarGalax: You are right installing a zip file this way requires some knowledge of the windows system, or better how to unzip zips into the right directory. Still it takes you 6 steps to do so. It would have been much easier for everybody if the zip file would include an exe setup file to install the patch in the standard or customized install directory. I agree the help file tells you how to do it, but then again this way of installing is still very difficult for non experienced computer users

Brad said the demo would be out in a couple of weeks, they target for 50MB, including some multimedia. Their problem is to get the right things fit into the filesize. But if you wait for the demo and it works on your computer, then you can buy it without risk.

ds6161, the event "happens" and as a result something happens as well. In case of Divide Overflow, the Drengin (the evils) got a tremendous amount of powerfull battleships. So from on turn/month to the other, they became the strongest military cin in the universe. Now, if you are evil, you are going to use that advantage, or not? They blew everyone out of the sky. And yes, you can see the results of such an event, suddenly you (or better: The Drengin) have (in this case) 86 battle cruisers more

Kavok: I think he means saving a game and redo one or more turns to avoid getting blasted, and then post it to the metaverse. Nirvana_CN: ditto as for Kavok. Sure this game needs a Save option, I myself play several games currently, in different environments. If I loose a game, so what? Back to the drawing board for the next challenge ;)

"From a 'Make all customers happy' point of view, simply giving us a switch at game setup to enable or disable random events would allow everyone to pick and choose.". Yes, that is an option. Like in Moo2. But personally I have never switched off Random Events in MOO2, because it made the game more interesting to me. Anyway, if people feel it should be possible, sure, make it possible.

"Random events tend to ruin TBS games, rather then improve them". Don't agree. It makes the games spicy. And fortunately Galciv comes with random events that can either benefit or harm you, unlike most strategy games that have only harmful random events.

"I love the chaos factor that those random events provide, but I don't like something as overballanced as this occuring. Is this intended?". NO, it's RANDOM. It could ALSO BENEFIT you. Take it as is and try to beat them in another way. If the Drengin are now the strongest, it doesn't mean you lost the game. This game is about STRATEGY, so find a way to solve your problems, or play another game if you loose. I lost several games and won two so far. That is why it is soo challenging. If

Draginol, Space Sharks, Galactic Prison: these events challenge your Strategic intellect to the limit. Look at it like that. Don't worry if you loose a game, learn from it ;) And play the next one.

"Too bad that won't stop the Drengins from "liking my skin" and their transporters from invading me in a few turns". Try getting "evil" yourself in the next game, the Drengin will love you (and your skin) :D

Anytime the crash has something to do with cutscenes, it is almost sure it has something to do with your soundcard and/or videocard. And maybe even with your windows version. As I said, I had problems under ME with the SB card. And it can also have to do with your system specs, what processor, how much internal mem etc. I had some games playing fine with sound disabled, and it turned out with sound enabled on my system was not working because my system couldn't handle it. So IT IS difficult to s

"It fees so much more balanced and fair than any other game I've played- even when it's tough. If the AI beats me in this game it DESERVES to". Yep, Dearmad, I agree. I also play compu chess games, and with most games you could also "cheat" by taking bakc moves, but what's the point doing that? If I loose a game I try to learn from that experience, to improve my strategy, my strenght. The next game I hope to win, but IF I loose again I change my strategy again. This way, IF the AI is ch

Joeaverage, I think most people just don't find it appealing to their expectations, something like the hopes for MOO3 being the ultimate MOO2. Most people prefer HOM3. But it is like it is, nobody ever said HOMIV would be the ultimate HOM3, nobody ever said MOO3 would be the ultimate MOO2. It is just another approach of the games, and you either like it or dislike it. MOO3 came with a flyer for Galciv. The front page says: "The fate of the Galaxy is in your hands". The back page says: "Never the

"It's a good thing you're joking, Freya... ". Me? I am the most serious guy in the world. They say. Since you don't believe me, in the mean time, alt-tabbing between my game in progress and this forum, I ahve mirrored my C drive to TWO external 120 gig USB HD's, so now I'm absolutely sure I don't loose the game. But that part is for another thread. ;) :D LOL

Part of the fun, of course, is also to find out what new feautures you can add to for instance Starbases, after you researched whatever new. I think this is the X of Xplore. For me it's nice NOT to know in advance what I can add to a Starbase, untill I send a module there to find this out. But that's my vision. It is just a matter how you look at things. ;)

Ash, what do you mean with obsessed? Is that the case if you dream about the Drengin when you finally sleep for a couple of hours, after playing Galciv the best part of the day? And when you get up, try yet to find another excuse NOT to go to work? And when you bbq the taste is far better than before because you know the skin of humans is soo good of taste? And when you look at the stars, if you get the time to look at them when you finally go to the long overdue visit to the rest room whilst pl
