"One of the major things in the upcoming expansion pack will be a host of complex random events. Not the moral ones but the plot based ones. These require considerable work but I think it'll be worth it." Now we only wish it would already be June! :CONGRAT:

"I'm not asking for this to be changed. Instead, I want a few tech items that alter my general strategy as I play the game. Wouldn't you like to see something like this too?". I think that we all agree everything that adds to the (re)playability of the game is welcome. Perhaps it is possible to include some random events that would/could lead to you what you suggest. So if the vent happens, you can choose A, B or C (Good, Neutral, Evil) and based upon that some new techs will be availab

I would say if the skill is 1, a bonus of 25% would lead to 1,25 x the chance something nasty happens to you. A normal dice roll would lead to a 50-50 chance that the nasty indeed happens. 25% could also mean 1 out of 4 you are lucky. If you have the skill, you would be 50% of the time lucky (you get a 1 in stead of always a zero when the dice rolls). So skill + 25% bonus would mean 3 out of 4 you are lucky. And so on. But I could also be completely wrong LOL

"Some random events seem to have random variations in what bonuses they give, so evil may not ALWAYS give a higher value.". I think ALL the RANDOM events ARE RANDOM, so the benefits/penalties are everytime different. As it should be. ;)

To clarify # 32 more, New Zealand is English for Nieuw Zeeland, goes back to the days The Netherlands ruled the Seas. Zeeland is one of our provinces. Well, some education can't harm ;) :D LOL

"if Swedish customs recognizes a packet as foreign mail order, they will hold it until you have payed the 25% VAT". Wow, and I thought Dutch VAT was already high (19%), but now I found Sweden pays 25% and Belgium 21%. MUST have something to do with our LIBERAL Government ;) Anyway, there are ways to fool customs, I bought Drengin through Internet, buying/downloading software IS still free of VAT in the EU, and then Brad offered very kindly to send the CD by mail as well. Since I had already pai

"Verenti", don't take it so seriously. This Thread was meant to be for in-game amusement, like taking a brake in between the game, like to read questions and answers in the forum, like to download yet another update, like to help the community with your knowledge of the game or computer hardware. That's what this is all about, to have a great environment for gaming and joy, to be a member of an international family, and perhaps even as a first step to global peace and understanding :)

"They seem far less common than originally, and I miss the random events- they hardly happen at all in my games (Intelligent level). I miss that feeling of the unknown.". That would be weird, because I just finished a tiny universe on beginner level, and I can tell you the Sharks ALMOST wiped me out. And I had several random events during this two hour game.

Brad, I have changed empire from Apolyton to European today, I'm Dutch, that's why ;) . In the metaverse, when I click My Empire, it keeps coming with Apolyton, NOT European. But I show up as a member of European when I click my details.

"I don't have any times available right now. We need to hire more developers and artists really. Right now we're stretched thin enough working on the prepooduction of those games and getting The Political Machine going not to mention our considerable development commitment to GalCiv over the next several months.". Well taken mate, just continue what you do.

"Guy Arcuri", very interesting post, thanks for sharing it!. Most of us overlook these aspects of the game, and the response by Brad proves how much effort is put into this game. :)

"Travis Seeber", you are right, but from time to time we need a little break from this awesome game. I tried to break the tension a bit. See what the parties can do in Galciv, you can choose many more than in real life (in the USA), many less than in real life (in The Netherlands) :)
