I don't have a wheel, my main grip with the UI is in the Tech screen : It's quite painful to just scroll the different techs, there are only 2 small up/down arrows, a scroll bar would be much more practical ! :)

Get fast to Battle-xx ships that will defend your planets, add some StarBases with defense modules in your sectors, aliens will be more careful to attack you ! Expand fast, buy some Col ships but don't fall into too much debt (avoid crappy 12-13 planets as much as possible at start). Make trades with a "good" guy to improve relations, at subnormal they won't easily become enemies.

Well, my 1st game was at Medium/Beginner... Nearly won now ! :) For growth, I used a cheesy method : put some B people in Transports (particulalry just before elections ... :D) , the remaining ones get happy !

The one right here at left ! :D Nearly 1,000 votes, (approx, we can't get the figures) 80% "Great" and 20% "Good", 0.00% for anything lower !!! :D Is that a real vote or did FrogBoy make a program to add 1 "Great" vote each minute ? :D :D It's a great game anyway ... :)

First and main thing that annoys me with SB is that they give sector wide bonuses and cost NO maintenance, where the smallest Social Project have maintenance and usually only apply to the planet... Without much experience it seems MUCH more useful to churn Constructors and build gazillions of SB than to invest in Social projects... Am I wrong ?

In ly last game tech was fairly low when invasion occured, the "big fleet" were at most a couple BCs plus some Corvettes, and we had simple Transports, not Cbt Transport ... Yet big homeworld planets falled easily. What bothers me is that Transports are fairly cheap, can easily be protected by stacking them (even with Defender/Battle Axe-Hammer ships as long as they are in controlled sectors !), that "troops" come to NO cost - just put you population into them to have killers, lol, and

I don't want unused prod to be automatically redirected to other planets, it'll make the system much more opaque. I'd really like Planet level Sliders, with an option to readjust them at "empire" levels (for example each planet can have a flag "Use empire slider"/"Use local slider" , and also a Global readjustement option putting all flags to "Empire"). Else just refund unused production in cash, that's the more logical. So I can have "cash cow planets" producing nothing but cash :)

During each war, as soon as the space battle is over, 1 lone transport with 1 B "troops" (they were civilians when boarding, lol !) is enough to take over a 6B+ populated planet, at equal tech, and using "traditional warfare". To the contrary, destroying a StarBase is much more difficult ! They have >150 hp and defense at least 5, they eat Corvettes at breakfast ... It just doesn't seem right, and make relatively unexpensive ships much too important compared to very expensive planet

Yes, feedback is lacking, not only for vanquished races but also for : * Planetary conquest, win or loss * Everything gained/lost via trade : for traded tech we should get the CNN robot describing the stuff, some window if ships/money/stuff is given, etc.. For big events like race extinction a gloomy cutscene would be "necessary", for the rest a GNN report would do. BTW I'd like to have MORE reports : when an Empire reaches X planets, when important tech are discovered by ot

Thx all ! But but but ... Now I begin to have consequent growth rate, and moral plummets !!! It went from 70+ to 40-some on Earth.. (:( As a result I lost the elections (well I knew I should have kept Imperium as I play my leader as an evil bastard, but at the time I switched to Rep 'cause economy was in shambles, and it helped MUCH ! :) ) I like the idea of selling extra population, that will show'em ! (I'd sell them to the already overcrowded Yor, then I'll invade with mass drivers

Hi, Just playing my first games, I'm completely overwhelmed by alien growth : they got to 5-10 B people when I'm at barely 2... :( I did have a comparable number of planets than they, but it seems that the main parameter is Planet Quality, and mine were 14-18 where they had some 20+ in early game (Soil Enrichmt and perhaps Habitat only). My own planets became noticeably more fertile when they had "Habitat" only. Tax level does'nt seem to have much effect, I tried from 33% to 50%

Manual is "at par", no very subpar from the rest ;) The game is very fun and tense, but I find that colony/economic management is really too straightforward : galaxy level sliders and "planet quality" as sole planet attribute. Planet-level sliders and some "specials" on planets (mineral rich, bad atmosphere, good weather, artifacts, ...giving various +/- modifiers) will make all this more colourful, immersive and interesting, without breaking the game design IMHO Also

33% tax, yes, ... But how in hell can we then keep with them on shipbuilding and tech ?? In my game, only 2 years passed and Drengin at Beginner already are 30% ahead in pop and tech, have more colonies and begin to buils Constructors...Mine is 50 months to go, and I'm broke since I bought Colony ships on credit ... I have to put taxes at 50% and spending at 40% just to stay at -100 BC balance ! (:(

My biggest disappointment with the game is the PDF manual ! :( What's the heck ? 54 MB file for 44 big-font pages, but nearly unreadable due to bold weird font style !!! (:( Can't even print it : on py paltry home printer I'd be out of ink, and I can't transfer it to office to print it on the big color laser printer ... IMO the old html manual available in the Encyclopedia is still much better... I expected a REAL GOOD manual (as the rest of the game), stg like the Civ2 or MOO2

Expected some traffic jam, so I packed my order and launched the D/L at 8 AM CET (2 AM EST), just before going to work ! :) But when I asked first to D/L the media it "offered" me to D/L the game first, but didn't queue ... And instead of my usual 60KB/sec bandwidth I got a paltry 10 KB/s ! :sniff!: :sniff!: Now the game installed during the day, no crash, everything Ok LOL, but media is still going to take 8 hours !!! It really looks like Stardock heavily underestimated their suc

I'm still not sure, maybe I'm dumb :p , but I want to be sure for tomorrow (I'm in Europe, so it'll be ak at 6am !) : on which "tab" should the registration be entered ? Currently under 0.99b.141, when clicking on Registration there is a "Drengi.net" tab that allows registration for Drengin.net OR GalCiv (combo box), and a Stardock tab that only has CursorXP ... Will GalCiv appear on the Stardock tab tomorrow, or will we have to use Drengin.net tab/GalCiv registration ? :notsure:
