Well, it has been asked recently, but I remind having seen in a thread that galaxy sizes went from 3x3 to a whopping 27x27 sectors. Now in the online User manual the maximum listed is 12x12 ... What are the real sizes ?

And my name should be Tuezlestous, starting with Vikings ! :D
AFAIK, BOTF2 died in 2002 ... (man, we'll end up using only acronyms ! :D )
Yes, I support the proposal of allowing ME to get the game NOW !! lol More seriously, a sticky explaining design decisions would be useful .. .but this board don't support stickies AFAIK :(
Nidaros, I was joking, but YOU started threadjacking with your discussion on Belgium and Sweden lol ! ~SDC~
I don't think copyright holders will bother on a bunch of guys giving away a ST mod for GalCiv, at least no more than for SE4 ;) ... Indeed Stardock should NOT host it. We only need an independent community fansite to put all of it onto - discussions included ! :) As for copyrighted art, you only have to change/recolor some pixels to void all claims lol
I meant "WERE ignored" !! :)
As for res, I understand it is 1024*768 32 bits only (as per online manual). Rich 21" owners were voluntarily not ignored ;)
Yep, it worked but SDC kept telling "login failed" in the top window title when I was ... so I was confused ! But the "Discussion" area is still very bugged, updates don't work, threads do not appear, and so on ... :sniff!:
What's the heck with these "copyright issues" ?? Stardock would not be involved in user made mods anyway ! I know of a lot of games with ST or SW mods (Civ2, SE4 ...), noone never had any legal issues with them. ~SDC~
I logged on 6 hours ago, was ok, now SDC keeps refusing my logon... Is there maintenance/problems with the server ??
I like the idea, they are no jackass Vicious-Roys LOL ! But why just 4 queues ? If there were more they could be more "specialized", wouldn'it be useful ?
Shut up Vikings threadjackers ! The movie is very good, I love the music theme ! Who did it ?
What format is used for the ships/planet/background/UI pictures/graphics ? Using standard format BMP or JPG files helps MUCH for modding (as in SE4 for example). Using anything else is just closing the door ...
Back to my FlowerPower game idea : as BoogieBac says, the challenge should be not not build warships, nor to attack. In a political game, you can however use others to puash aside the burden of war : alliances, gift to enemies of your enemies, even trading of ships (see it as buying mercs in case of extreme need ;) )... And the FP Empire should be quite good at diplomacy, social projects and tech. As it will focus on "useful" items, you will skip entire tech families (weapons)and put ba
FrogBoy, can you turn Good and try the next challenge ? PowerFlower Federation ! :) Pacifists, abilities in Social, Pop Growth and Trade, Political Victory, random enemies ethics/level Always make "Good" decisions and ... NEVER ATTACK ANYONE - better yet, don't build a single warship ! Could be fun at least (even if not really winnable...)
Really captivating ! I WANT THIS GAME !!! :D The AI races really seem to play as if they were sentient, with goals, memory, strategies ... I wonder in what measure it is "hard coded" and thus predictable, will have to see that ! The most disturbing is however that they can end up beaten by their own overconfidence - freaky ! ;p
Hello from France. At least you from the Bush Collective dumbwits could at least spell Voltaire correctly, isn'it ? Sorry, couldn't resist Admiral ... ;p
Nice background, Frogboy/Draginol ! :) That's amazing, you EVEN have a cosmic story background for the game ! Do you plan on converting to writer when your design/programming skills will have declined ? :D More seriously, a book series (or at least online story parts) will be nice and help to immerse players even morein the GalCiv universe...
To push this a little more, they could put a killer bug that utterly destroy your PC in the standard version, warn legit user and give a patch on the 1st day ... ;p ;p That's so Eeeeeeeevil !
If I've understood correctly the manual (I don't have the beta), the economics model works thus : Your pop contributes Taxes (at the rate you set, but higher is not always better due to bad effects if you set it too high) THEN you distribute back your income in Mil/Soc/Res "production". This is "non-free" production. On top of that you have "free" production, sort of return on what you've invested in Projects and due to morale, tech, or whatever. Thre are undoubtly other rules an
I'm Ok to buy an empty box direct from Stardock too LOL . Maybe they could offer several flavours : "Goody Two'Shoes Federation" theme, "Evil DarK EmpiRe oF DeAtH" Black Box, "I Love thE.T.orians" Green theme ... ;)
I don't have the game (beta), but I've read the manual in order to be ready soon :) Very good read, but I didn't find anything about the possibility to transport colonists from system to system... Is it possible ? If not, how to explain we could settle on an uninhabited planet but NOT be able to add people thereafter ?? And BTW, how many colonists are on a colony ship ?
Whot, no French yet ? You've got one now : Champigny, France (Leader of Enlightened Peaceful Cheese-eating Nations) LOL
Same question regarding France : no publisher ever announced it here, but I was told that French betatesters will make a localization ... Would we all have to order it in the US via the Web ? No problem for me, I have DSL, but in France not many people do and not much can/want either pay in US $ or on the Web... Having it in stores would multiply sales tenfold at least (but it also costs to the game publishers...). So ? :notsure:
